AMP Financial Services has appointed Andrew Hobern and Deborah Sneddon to the newly created roles of Director of Business Performance and Director of Operations in AMP Financial Planning, Advice & Services (FPAS), respectively.

AMP Director of FPAS Steve Helmich said the appointments are part of AMP’s move to improve the quality and effectiveness of AMP’s financial planner and adviser support services and ultimately to further business growth.

“The creation of these roles, along with the new Director of Advice announced last week, support a centralised operating model designed to be more efficient and stimulate growth. We want to provide the best advice and planner and adviser support in the market place,” Mr Helmich said.

As Director of Business Performance, Mr Hobern will drive the growth and performance of the FPAS business.

“Andrew and his team will also drive growth within AMP Financial Planning and Hillross practices as well as the Horizons business and explore new distribution opportunities, through mergers and acquisitions and strategic alliances,” Mr Helmich said.

Mr Hobern has been at AMP for over 25 years, starting his career as a graduate in the New Zealand office. He is currently Director of Wealth Management Products and was responsible for the successful design, launch and implementation earlier this year of the award winning AMP Flexible Super product.

Ms Sneddon joins the FPAS team following her role as AMP IT Manager Planner Technology where she managed more than 100 people in the development, implementation, maintenance and support of planner applications. In that position she managed the relationship between the business and IT, delivering major IT change projects and technology solutions.

“Deborah brings a wide perspective to the role, which is highlighted by her 25 years experience in the financial services industry which includes senior roles in both IT and business operations at AMP, Citibank, IAG and Allianz,” Mr Helmich said.

The Director of Operations role is key in delivering operational excellence to AMP Financial Planning, Hillross and Horizons. Ms Sneddon will lead Process and Technology Support, Commissions and Register Management, Practice Integration and the Risk and Compliance teams.

These roles commence in December and will report to Mr Helmich.
