SPAA CEO Andrea Slattery says: “SPAA’s primary role is to lift the professional standards across the SMSF sector, and Peter has played an integral role in this process, first and foremost as Technical Director but also as a former board member.
 
“His contribution to SPAA has been significant over a long period of time, and while we are sad to see Peter leave, we wish him well in his new role.
 
“At SPAA, he established himself as one of the leading authorities in the SMSF sector, and the AMP appointment simply confirms his stature in the industry.

Mrs Slattery says SPAA’s depth of personnel is reflected in Peter’s successor, Graeme Colley, who is currently SPAA’s Director of Education and Professional Standards.

“Graeme has more than 30 years’ experience in the superannuation industry and had been involved in many of the changes that have taken place to the Government’s superannuation policy during that time.

“He is highly regarded as a leading authority in SMSFs, superannuation and has been directly involved in formulating policy, developing legislation and providing high level technical advice. He has also co-authored a number of books and publications on superannuation, continues to lecture in the University of NSW and previously worked for the ATO for 20 years. Hence I have the utmost faith in Graeme taking on the Technical area of our Association.”

Mr Burgess says: “Working at SPAA has been a fantastic and rewarding experience for me. I have been fortunate to be part of a team who are passionate and energetic about the SMSF sector, and who work diligently to drive the sector forward.

“I will always remain a staunch supporter of SPAA and the good work it does to lift the standard of professionalism in the SMSF sector, and I look forward to continuing my relationship with SPAA, albeit in a different capacity,” he says.
