Life insurer TAL (formerly TOWER Australia) Chair Rob Thomas announced today the resignation of Elana Rubin from the TAL Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Elana Rubin has been a TAL director since 2007 and has been the Chair of the Investment Committee and a member of the Technology and Innovation Committee.

During that period TAL has seen the introduction of new cornerstone shareholder Dai-ichi Life in 2008, with Dai-ichi Life moving to being 100% shareholder in May 2011.

TAL has seen very considerable business evolution and growth during Ms Rubin’s tenure, with it doubling in size over this period to approx. $1.55bn of life premiums at 31 December 2012, making it the second largest life company in Australia.

The TAL executive team and management have been most appreciative of Ms Rubin’s very active involvement in TAL’s diversity and talent development initiatives. Her shared experiences and wisdom have been most valuable to TAL staff.

Mr Thomas said: “Elana has been an outstanding director for TAL and made a tremendous contribution during a period of major evolution and growth for TAL. We sincerely thank her for her teamwork, expertise, hard work and dedication, and wish her every success in future.”
