BetaShares, a leading Australian exchange traded fund (ETF) provider, yesterday announced the launch of a new educational blog.

The blog will provide educational content, portfolio construction analysis, ETF industry updates, and market insights from market investment strategists and the team at BetaShares.

The blog, the first of its kind in the Australian ETF industry, responds to increasing demand from advisers and investors for simple and accessible educational tools around ETF investment, written in ‘plain English’. The blog’s launch has also been driven by the increasing use of social media by both investors and financial advisers alike.

BetaShares’ Managing Director, Alex Vynokur, said the online channel would become an increasing focus for BetaShares and the Australian funds management industry as fund managers sought new ways to engage with and educate investors including SMSFs.

“Digital channels, including social media, are becoming an increasingly important touch point for Australian fund managers to connect with clients. We are responding early to this trend by providing informative online content in order to facilitate discussions online and build an online community,” Mr Vynokur said.

“We’ve already built a strong online presence through our comprehensive website and Twitter account, but we want to go further and provide easy to consume educational material which includes insights on markets and portfolio construction analysis.”

“We believe the BetaShares Blog will prove a valuable resource for investors and advisers that are hungry for educational content surrounding portfolio construction and ETFs. In addition, we hope it will also contribute significantly to the development of the local ETF industry,” Mr Vynokur concluded.
