In announcing the appointment, Nick Hakes, General Manager, Member Services, Partnerships & Campus AFA said, “Over the past 12 months, the AFA has grown by over 40 per cent and there was a need to expand our team to support this growth. We are delighted to have someone of Roz’s calibre and expertise join the AFA leadership team.”

Prior to joining the AFA, Ms Kaye was the Head of Operations for Netwealth. “Roz brings an incredible passion for and knowledge of the financial advice profession,” Mr Hakes said. “When she starts in the role in November, she will be responsible for continuing to deliver high-value member services and support the AFA’s incredible membership growth.”

Mr Hakes attributed the drivers of membership growth in part to the AFA’s Communities of Practice, including Genxt and Inspire, which he said are encouraging younger advisers and women to join the AFA. AFA CEO Brad Fox said Ms Kaye’s appointment follows the redesign of the AFA leadership team.

“We recently appointed Samantha Clarke to the newly created role of General Manager, Policy, Professionalism & Marketing and refocused the role of Nick Hakes to General Manager, Member Services, Partnerships & Campus AFA.”

Over the past 12 months the AFA has also seen dramatic growth in enrolments into its Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP) designation.

“We also launched the Your Best Interests TV show and consumer website, refreshed our mentoring program, continued to advocate on behalf of advisers and consumers, delivered national roadshows on finology and life insurance transition to over 3,000 advisers as well as completing an upgrade to our technology platforms.”

Mr Fox said it has been a contrasting year of growth and a lot of hard work on the regulatory front for the AFA. “With the focus still on professionalism and regulatory reform, there is no doubt members are experiencing challenging times,” he said. “Despite these headwinds we have positioned the AFA for the future and will continue to work towards our vision of great advice for more Australians.”
