Mr Conti joins from Credit Suisse, where he has spent the past nine years working in the Asset Management division with a specific focus on alternatives and credit. Previous to that he was a Senior Research analyst at AMP.

Commenting on the appointment –Bentham Asset Management’s managing director, Richard Quin, said Mr Conti’s experience will add to the depth of skills and market knowledge we have within Bentham.

“We’re excited to grow the team and believe Daniel will contribute significantly as we continue to build out our business.”

The announcement follows a period of solid performance for Bentham Asset Management. Against a backdrop of challenging markets in fixed income and credit, Bentham’s performance demonstrates the value of its approach in actively managing credit. The team actively manages credit, interest rate and FX risks in the portfolio, focusing on investments across a range of institutional quality asset classes, including senior secured loans, asset backed securities, capital securities, convertible bonds and high yield bonds.

Fixed income markets continue to grapple with historically low interest rates after a 30-year bull market in bonds. Mr Quin notes:

“Going forward, investors will need to evaluate what kind of income portfolio will best serve them over the next 30 years – and my belief is that credit investments will have an important role to play.

“Investors seeking yield as well as protection from rising interest rates and inflation will likely need a greater allocation to credit, particularly global credit which can offer a greater opportunity set with higher levels of diversification and greater liquidity than the local market.”
