Leading provider of philanthropic services in Australia, Equity Trustees, has appointed Jodi Kennedy as General Manager Charitable Trusts and Philanthropy.

It is a key strategic position in the leading specialist trustee company, which distributes more than $70m annually to Australia’s charitable and not for profit (NFP) sector.

“We warmly welcome Jodi to our leadership team, and to the role of leading an outstanding team of professionals. Together they play a critical role in what makes Equity Trustees – and our workplace – unique,” said Mick O’Brien, Managing Director.

Ms Kennedy joined Equity Trustees on 24 July. For the past 10 years she has been at National Australia Bank in the Corporate Social Responsibility team, where she was Head of Community Engagement.

The Equity Trustees combined GM position was newly created after a restructure early this year to bring together charitable trust management and the existing philanthropy services – which include the widespread granting program, and services to living and new philanthropic donors. The unit sits within the Trustee and Wealth Services (TWS) division of Equity Trustees.

TWS Executive General Manager, Ian Westley said: “Over the past 12 months Equity Trustees has done a great deal of work to position for growth, and improve how we meet the demand for our services. As a part of that, the way we manage our philanthropy services and our trust management areas was restructured. The new position, of General Manager, Charitable Trusts and Philanthropy, with wider responsibility for both areas, was created.

“Our focus was on ensuring we can continue to provide excellent service to our clients, beneficiaries and the many charitable and NFP bodies we provide grants to, and play a key role in nurturing a philanthropic culture in our country. I am confident Jodi will bring the energy, experience and passion we need to help us fulfil our ambitions,” Mr Wesley said.

“Equity Trustees is deeply invested in growing and developing philanthropy, and philanthropic trusts – it’s an integral part of what makes us unique,” said Mick O’Brien, Managing Director. “We are excited at this new phase in the development of our Company as a leading provider of charitable and philanthropic expertise in Australia.”
