Insight Investment, a leading global investment manager, has received a ‘Recommended’ rating for one of its flagship Australian funds – the Insight Global Absolute Return Bond Fund – from Lonsec  Research.

The A$609.8m1 Fund aims to provide a positive absolute return in all market conditions over a rolling 12 month period, and 3% pa in excess of the Bloomberg AusBond Bank Bill Index (before fees and expenses) over rolling 3-year periods2. It offers a multi-strategy approach to fixed income, seeking to add value through interest rate, inflation, currency and credit strategies.

Lonsec described the Fund as an appropriate entry point to the asset class and said it had a strong conviction in the Fund’s ability to generate risk-adjusted returns in line with relevant objectives. It added that the complementary skillsets of portfolio managers Andrew Wickham and Peter Bentley – rates and credit respectively – are well suited to managing a global absolute return bond portfolio. Lonsec also commented on the Fund’s ‘units of risk’ concept, which it considers to be logical and a structured manner of constructing the portfolio, while also adding an embedded layer of risk management.
