The Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) has invited stakeholders to provide feedback on its proposed guidance on the Financial Adviser Examination.

The Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) has issued an online questionnaire to gather member views on the exam so that it can provide a written submission to FASEA on behalf of its members.

The examination is an essential component of the educational qualifications and standards that all financial advisers are required by law to pass before they can provide personal financial advice to retail clients.

Commenting on the exam consultation, Dante De Gori CFP®, CEO of the FPA said: “This is a very significant piece of the FASEA framework. The proposed exam will be advice specialisation agnostic, and will generally test concepts, laws and standards which are universal to all advice provision and currently in place. The only exception is the FASEA Code of Ethics which is yet to be finalised.

“There is a very tight time frame for gathering feedback so I encourage all members to complete the online questionnaire ahead of the close date on 20 July,” said Mr De Gori.
