AMP has announced the commencement of the AMP University Challenge for second semester students. The 2021 AMP University Challenge is a national competition where university and TAFE students can try their hand at being a financial adviser and have the chance to share in a $10,000 cash prize. The competition is open to all Australian tertiary students, whether or not they are studying financial planning.

Since the competition began 11 years ago, it has been integrated into the curriculum and assessment for students studying financial planning at institutions including Charles Sturt University, Deakin University, Griffith University, TAFE NSW, Western Sydney University, Central Queensland University and the University of Wollongong.

The first semester’s Challenge had close to 150 participants from 21 tertiary institutions. Historically, over the last 11 years, close to 1,500 students have taken part with many going on to careers in financial services and financial advice.

AMP Australia, General Manager, Advice Services, Melinda Huggins said: “The AMP University Challenge is something we’re incredibly proud of at AMP. For over a decade, the Challenge has helped develop the next generation of financial advisers to drive the industry forward. Now more than ever, high quality, professional advice plays an important role in supporting Australians to manage their finances and it’s exciting to see so many students pull their sleeves up and showcase their skills.

“We know that financial advice can have a profoundly positive impact on the quality of life of Australians. With so many participants moving into the advice industry after completing their studies, it’s wonderful that AMP is able to help kickstart the careers of many future advisers.”
