Zurich Australian Insurance Limited (ZAIL) has announced a new agency agreement with NM Insurance Pty Limited (NM), to act as security for Proteus Marine Insurance (Proteus), a leading provider of commercial marine insurance for cargo, carriers, commercial hull and marine liabilities, from 1 September 2022.

By using NM’s extensive network and market strength to provide marine customer solutions, the agreement represents an important pillar of Zurich’s strategy.

James Butchart, Head of Marine for Zurich Australia & New Zealand said: “We are excited to enhance our already strong relationship with NM Insurance by supporting the Proteus brand. The Proteus product suite is directly aligned to Zurich’s global marine strategy and will provide Proteus customers with tailored solutions for their risks.”

NM Insurance Chief Executive Officer, Lyndon Turner, said: “Further extending our alliance with Zurich will enable us to scale and grow our Proteus Marine offering to broker partners. This is a natural alignment with our other products and services successfully supported by Zurich including Nautilus Marine, National Motorcycle and Australian Caravan Insurance.”

The agreement follows Zurich’s 2020 announcement to provide capacity for NM’s portfolio of boating and recreational products across Australia and New Zealand.
