Boutique investment house, Prime Value Asset Management, continues to grow its Sydney presence, appointing experienced financial services professional, Nathan Wares, as Head of Distribution, and experienced marketing professional, Kate Mulham, as Head of Marketing and Communications.

Melbourne-headquartered Prime Value Asset Management is part of an investment group including Shakespeare Property Group, which has seen growth in funds under management and now manages over $3 billion in equities, income securities, direct property and alternative assets in Australia.

Nathan Wares has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, starting his career at BT Funds Management in 1992 then including senior roles at Citigroup Asset Management as Vice President of Sales, ANZ Investment Bank as Director of Equity Capital Markets, and Westpac and St George Private Banks as Director responsible for the management of private bankers and their ultra-high-net-worth portfolios.

More recently Nathan was the Managing Director of Australia & New Zealand for a global boutique alternatives asset manager.

Nathan will engage with financial advisers, dealer groups, private wealth firms, family offices and wholesale investors. He will be responsible for distributions covering several funds across asset classes including Australian equities, income securities, direct property and alternative assets across Australia.

Kate Mulham has more than 15 years’ experience in financial services marketing with a focus on global and domestic funds management. Her previous roles include Senior Manager, Funds Marketing for Dexus, and Director, Head of Marketing at UBS Asset Management Australia, responsible for building out and delivering the marketing strategy for the Australian business. Kate has also held senior marketing roles at leading asset management firms including BT Financial Group and Perpetual Investments.

Ms Mulham said Prime Value has established a strong reputation of adding value for investors including high-net-worth. “Prime Value is a genuine independent with an investment process based on stewardship and capital protection, with consistent performance across several asset classes.

“They have a quality investment team in place which is disciplined, humble, and experienced across many market cycles. It’s a winning combination which has delivered for investors.”

Mr Wares continued, “a great example of the manager’s approach is the small cap Prime Value Emerging Opportunities Fund, which has shown consistency since inception in October 2015 – the Fund has returned 11.5% per annum after fees to investors since inception to 30 June 2023. This fund has shown consistent outperformance while weathering some incredibly volatile market cycles.”

Prime Value Asset Management CEO and co-founder, Yak Yong Quek, welcomed the appointments. “Both Nathan and Kate have the right credentials and impressive track records. We believe they are the right people to help drive our next phase of growth, and they will be a valuable addition to our growing Sydney office.”
