The FASEA deadlines may have been extended, but the likely final outcome has not. Most are predicting a significant exit of advisers from the industry in the coming years so the question is…
‘ Who is going to buy all the books?’

Genxt QLD is proud to present Craig Ball from Succession & Estate Planners and Kris Martin from KDM Financial and Estate Planning to discuss the opportunities they see for advisers in the coming years.

Whether you are thinking of buying a book to get a leg-up or partnering with a firm that will be after your FASEA compliant skill set, this will be a great interactive session with lots of time for questions. Ales & nibbles provided!

About our speakers

Craig Ball

Craig has been in financial services for over 30 years and has always had an innovative spirit. The Allocator, and insurance and super optimiser software designed to help advisers determine optimal beneficiary nominations for possible death benefit pensions, is one of his lasting legacies. Craig is now taking on his biggest project to date building an Ark for risk advisers to prepare for what he believes will be a “tsunami” of life risk books on the market due to FASEA.

“I have seen so much change in the last three decades – regulatory & legislative changes, major technological changes, mergers & acquisitions, iconic brands collapsing, recessions & 18%+ interest rates, changes of Government…..etc., etc. Apart from death & taxes, the other certainty in life is change!”

“With change comes opportunity however. Many, unfortunately, only see doom & gloom when change is thrust upon us but if we can separate ourselves from the ‘doomsday preachers’, & look closely at the impending void in the marketplace, it is surprising just how many opportunities present themselves”.

Bringing together some of the country’s leading experts in Aged Care, Estate Planning, Financial Counselling, Cash-flow management, Finance & Financial Services to form the Australian Financial Advisory Network (AFAN). AFAN is a brainchild of Craig’s & has been established not only to provide Australian consumers with an extremely high level of professional services, but also to assist older practitioners with a dignified exit from our industry.

Kris Martin

Kris started in financial services in early 2000 with a risk insurance advice firm located in Westend. In 2004 Kris joined ANZ Business Banking as a Financial Planner during which time he completed his Bachelor of Business. In May 2008 Kris then left ANZ and founded KDM Financial and Estate Planning as well as completing his ChFP in the same year. Between 2008 and 2015, Kris purchased 2 additional practices and completed a MBA at QUT – Since then KDM Financial has grown to have two offices in Brisbane (Milton and Mt Gravatt) with a team of 5 ARs with 6 Admin Support. In late 2016, Luke Marshall joined KDM and become an equity holder which has then allowed Kris to focus on the growth plans for the practice while Luke manages the clients and staff.

KDM’s plans for the remainder of 2019 is to self-license plus finalise two further acquisitions along with another two in 2020. These acquisitions consist of one holistic advice practice including their staff plus three risk books – all with a similar client value proposition.
