Brooks, formerly Investment Specialist and Head of Global Institutional Business at Platinum, will report to Atrium Chief Investment Officer, Tony Edwards.

Prior to Platinum, Brooks held similar roles at IFM Investors, Northward Capital, and MLC Investment Management. In his role, Brooks will work closely with financial advisers to build understanding of Atrium’s investment philosophy and value proposition.

He will also manage relationships with key research houses and the group’s external asset consultant, Russell Investments. According to Edwards, Brooks brings complementary skills and experience to the group and his appointment strengthens Atrium’s capabilities.

“Charlie will have a relentless focus on supporting our advisers, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to deliver exceptional client outcomes,” he said.

“This includes comprehensive training, education, portfolio modelling, and reporting. Charlie will work closely with our financial advisers, championing their efforts and enhancing their ability to serve their clients effectively.”

Brooks said the opportunity to support advisers to see their clients achieve their goals most excited him about the role.

“I bring decades of investment management experience to this role, most of it spent working with pension funds, institutional asset consultants and endowments, but I’m extremely excited about being closer to the end client and supporting advisers to build customised solutions for their high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients,” he said.

The new position extends Atrium’s capability in private markets that has long played a role in enabling Atrium’s multi-asset portfolios to achieve the consistent, Risk Targeted outcomes they are known for.  

In this newly created role Will will work alongside Atrium Chief Investment Officer, Tony Edwards, in the management and growth of Atrium’s private markets portfolio. His main responsibilities will include strengthening the investment, governance and operational frameworks around Atrium’s private market assets which includes investments across property, debt financing and agriculture. 

Will brings a diverse set of skills to Atrium, spanning direct investment, external manager due diligence, technology and distribution. This unique skillset puts Will in a strong position to add to the team’s existing capability to identify risk and opportunity in private markets, diversify deal flow, drive operational efficiencies and enhance Atrium’s product offering.

Will holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from the University Queensland.  He will be based in Atrium’s Brisbane office. 

Will’s appointment follows two further recent additions to the Atrium team. James White has recently joined as an Investment Specialist and Serena Sefton has taken on the Head of Legal role. James has over 20 years’ experience as a portfolio manager, investment strategist and economist, and was Chief Investment Officer for Hong Kong based Eminence Asset Management before joining Atrium. Serena has over 20 years’ experience within financial services, including senior legal and compliance positions with TCorp and Colonial First State.

Mr Foster joins Atrium with more than 15 years of financial markets experience including the last 9 years at Perpetual Limited where he was the Portfolio Manager for the diversified and smart beta strategies within the Multi Asset team.

Nigel Crampton

Atrium Investment Management (Atrium) continues to build out its team with two new appointments to support its growing market penetration, following a strong track record in investment management outcomes for investors.

Nigel Crampton takes the role of Head of Distribution, responsible for the overall distribution strategy, new institutional business and steering Atrium’s advice industry relationships. Nigel will report to Alex Hone, Chief Executive Officer and will join Atrium’s executive leadership team.

Alex welcomed Nigel to the team: “As a result of strong interest from advisers and record FUM inflows driven by our investment objectives being met and exceeded, I am delighted to announce Nigel’s appointment. Nigel arrives at Atrium after four years with Morningstar as Head of Sales, responsible for Morningstar’s sales and client relationship management for Australasian product offerings.

Before joining Morningstar, Nigel was a Strategic Business Manager with Macquarie Group where he worked for 14 years.

To further support Atrium’s growth, Han Lin has been appointed as Client and Product Specialist. Han assumes responsibility for supporting adviser investment enquiries and for the management and production of product documents and client reporting.

Hone said, “Han brings welcome skills in handling external queries regarding our asset management technical capabilities.”

Han previously held the position of Senior Associate – Corporate Actions, Equities and Regulatory Reporting at Macquarie Group. Prior to her stint at Macquarie, Han worked for JP Morgan in Sydney and Goldman Sachs in London.

An investment approach that ignores market noise and avoids investment herds has helped Atrium Investment Management (Atrium) reach its first billion dollars in funds under management, while delivering solid investment gains coupled with minimal volatility.

Atrium Chief Executive Officer, Alex Hone said the $1 billion milestone was a pleasing first step in a long-term journey to consistently deliver on behalf of Atrium investors.

“One of the defining attributes behind Atrium is the flexibility of our active investment management approach and consistent application of asset diversification and stringent risk management principles to avoid being exposed to any single risk factor such as equity market risk,” Mr Hone said.

By way of proxy, AEF 71 over the past 3 years to October 31, 2015 has delivered 13.4% per annum investment returns to investors after fees and taxes. Volatility of the AEF 71 portfolio since inception2 was managed well within prescribed targets, showing 4.8% per annum against the S&P ASX 200 of 13.2% per annum.
