LGM Investments, BMO Global Asset Management’s specialist emerging markets manager, yesterday announced that the BMO LGM Global Emerging Markets Fund has been added to one of Australia’s leading investment platforms, HUB24. The fund has been added to HUB24’s IDPS and Superannuation menus.

“Investor demand for quality emerging market asset managers is growing,” said Michael Angwin, Intermediary Business Director Australia, BMO Global Asset Management. “We are excited to have BMO LGM Global Emerging Markets Fund available on the menus of HUB24.”

Launched in 2015, the fund invests in cash-generating emerging market companies utilising an active, bottom-up, long-term, unconstrained style. The fund was recently awarded its first rating of four stars by SQM Research recognising its “strong investment philosophy that rigorously defines quality appropriately across the emerging and frontier market stock universe”.

Taking a broader approach to emerging market investing, LGM Investments has a concentrated stock-picking strategy that is differentiated from competitors with an emphasis on dominant consumer, financial or services companies in the less developed parts of the emerging market universe, such as India, Indonesia, Egypt and Vietnam.

Thomas Vester, Chief Investment Officer of LGM Investments, commented, “This fund offers the Australian market an alternative option in the emerging markets space, providing a focused exposure to the domestic opportunity in these markets.”

Vester added, “We make all our decisions at a stock level and invest where we see the greatest opportunity, not necessarily where an index would lead us. The best way to grow our clients’ capital is to compound it at a high rate over many years. To achieve this, we only look for great businesses characterised by having sustainable business models, strong management teams and unleveraged balance sheets with owners who respect that minority shareholders need to have their fair share of the cash flows.”
