<p>Private Portfolio Managers (PPM) has successfully offered Global equity growth Individually Managed Account (IMA) portfolios for clients since 2007 and now in recognising the limited options advisers and their clients have to access an actively managed global shares, has launched the PPM Global Growth Model on Powerwrap as an SMA in both investment and superannuation options.</p>
<p>The PPM Global Growth Model is a concentrated portfolio of 20 to 25 global stocks in developed markets – principally the US, Europe and UK. Investment opportunities are selected using PPMs stock selection approach which uses three core concepts to identify financially strong, strategically superior and high return versus cost investments. PPM uses a ‘bottom up’ process and has a long term approach as indicated by the low portfolio turnover.</p>
<p>Hugh MacNally, CEO and Founder of PPM, sees the PPM Global Growth SMA model as an ideal solution for financial advisers who themselves do not have the capacity to access global markets and whose clients want access to the advantages of direct equity exposure (transparency, lack of pooled tax consequences and low cost). PPM saw the Powerwrap Smartwrap platform, with its stockbroking and execution for Australia and Global markets, as a compelling partner for launching their first global SMA.</p>
<p>PPM will be one of only two global SMAs on the Powerwrap approved product list. <h3>New foundation announces the selected charities for inaugural edition<em> </em>of<em> The Australian Charity Storybook</em> to connect charities with corporate and individual givers.</h3>
<p>A new not for profit foundation launched <em>The Australian Charity Storybook</em> and website – an innovative new resource designed to build stronger emotional connections between Australians who want to give and the charities that need their support.</p>
<p>The Not-For-Profit Foundation is the brainchild of long established fund manager Private Portfolio Managers (PPM), and has been established with the support of several other corporate partners.</p>
<p>Tonight The Not-For-Profit Foundation partners will host a launch event for more than 140 representatives of charities, philanthropists, government, individuals and corporate foundations – many of whom have flown from across Australia to attend.</p>
<p>Research conducted by The Not-For-Profit Foundation showed the majority of Australians (53 per cent) make donations based on emotional connections, rather than level of trust or efficiency of the charity organisation.</p>
<p>The new website and hard copy Australian Charity Storybook aims to drive generosity by building greater awareness and a stronger emotional connection through publishing inspiring real life success stories of individuals whose lives have been impacted by the 30 charities selected. These emotional stories are real life case studies of the work being done by Australia’s charitable sector and illustrate how important our non-profit sector is to Australian society and culture.</p>
<p>Kris Vogelsong, Not–for-Profit Foundation General Manager and PPM Head of Corporate Development, said the venture aimed to showcase the remarkable work of Australia’s many and varied charities, and help to build the emotional bridge with philanthropists, government and the mainstream giving public.</p>
<p>“While the efficiency of a charity was important to many Australians, the defining factor for giving was how passionate they felt about the cause.  The stories in <em>The Australian Charity Storybook</em> have been a personal inspiration to us, we hope they will have the same effect to encourage others to support the not-for-profit sector,” Mr Vogelsong said.</p>
<h3>Drivers and roadblocks to giving</h3>
<p>The foundation conducted research across more than 1300 Australians, drawn from a wide range of industry sectors, to identify how individuals select a charity as well as barriers to giving.</p>
<p>One in five respondents said clear availability of information was the key criteria in selecting a charity to make a donation, while only 8 per cent said current events was the deciding factor when drawing up a shortlist of charities.</p>
<p>The research also found that key barriers to giving were lack of transparent and clear information about a charity’s purposes, perceived inefficiencies and over-intrusive collection methods.</p>
