Successful businesses continue to search for different ways to keep their staff motivated on the one hand, the other; their clients and suppliers feeling appreciated. In addition, if the result of their choosing goes towards a positive impact on society through Corporate Social Responsibility, then this does become a well worthy investment.

With that in mind, Sailors with DisABILITIES has created the perfect opportunity to bring together your staff, customers and/or suppliers and engage with up to 500 professionals from a number of Australia’s leading businesses. It is a fun packed day combined with a friendly sailing competition and then afterwards, back on shore to enjoy some live entertainment, food, drink and mingle with other attendees and promote your own business.

Check in commences at midday, on Friday 8th March, at the Cruising Yacht Club Australia (CYCA) located at Rushcutters Bay, Sydney. There you will be handed your welcome pack, shown your boat and greeted by your designated crew. The boats are compliant with all safety regulations. All you have to do is sign up as they have taken care of the rest.

Admissions are generally based on a group of 10 with your invested fee of $2,500 however, only $500 is taken for your registration whilst the rest will be your donation (and tax deductible). 100% of the proceeds raised will be re-invested back into SWD’s sailing programs to improve lives and future of people with disabilities or who are disadvantaged in life. If your group is larger than 10, then have a chat with the Charity’s Event Co-ordinator to make alternative arrangements.

Your 50ft racing yacht will take sail across the magnificent Sydney Harbour. The course starts at Point Piper, then off to the Heads, taking a turn at Lady Bay and heading back to the city, slingshotting around Clarke and the Shark Islands and returning back to the finishing line at Point Piper. If you are an avid sailor then you are most welcome to get involved otherwise, kick back and enjoy this exhilarating experience on the water.

Lunch packs will be provided on the boats however, the real celebrating will be after the race, back on shore, on the deck of the CYCA. The award ceremony will be conducted by Simon Marne and there will be many other chances to become winners through our Making Waves raffle fun. Friends, colleagues and partners are welcome to attend for a small additional fee.

After the successful inaugural “Making Waves Rally” held in March 2017, Sydney based disability charity, Sailors with disABILITIES (SWD), is delighted to announce details of the 2018 event, and encouraging businesses to jump on board and sponsor a yacht.

To be held Friday 9 March, the 3-hour race will start from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), home of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, and see more than 30 yachts with both professional and amateur sailors race up towards the heads, U-turn at Lady Bay and head around Clarke and Shark Islands to cross the finish line at Point Piper.

Followed by a fully catered after party held on the famous CYCA deck, all will be entertained, enjoy raffle prizes, and celebrate 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners as the sun sets over the harbour.

SWD founder and CEO David Pescud said: “providing a fully skippered yacht, organising everything for our sponsors and with 100% of the funds raised providing more sailing opportunities for young disabled and disadvantaged Australians, is what sets this race apart”.

From as little as $2,500 per yacht for 10 guests, this fun sailing event is a great way to help support a worthwhile cause whilst entertaining your clients, networking or thanking staff.
