Principal Global Investors has been awarded a Lipper Fund Award from REFINITIV US for the Principal Global Real Estate Securities Fund, Institutional (Class I: POSIX).

These awards recognise funds and fund management firms for their consistently strong risk-adjusted three-, five-, and ten-year performance relative to their peers. Principal Global Real Estate Securities Fund, Institutional was named the best global real estate fund over the 10-year period.

This is the second straight year the fund has won the award for the 10-year period. The fund previously received the 5-year period award for the years 2013, 2014, and 2015.

“Our primary focus as managers is to assist investors in reaching their financial goals. Winning this award provides evidence we have accomplished our primary objective,” said Kelly Rush, chief investment officer of global real estate securities at Principal Real Estate Investors and one of the fund’s portfolio managers. “In the past ten years, global real estate stocks have experienced a wide range of returns and I am proud of our team’s ability to successfully navigate these dynamic market conditions.”

The over $3 billion fund is managed by Principal Real Estate Investors, which sub-advises or manages $74.3 billion in commercial real estate assets[1]. Simon Hedger and Anthony Kenkel join Rush in managing the fund, having done so since inception. They are supported by a fully dedicated staff of 13 globally dispersed, listed property professionals with coverage of over 400 securities.

Lipper, a leading global research firm, presented the awards at a March 7 ceremony in New York City. The Lipper Fund Awards, from REFINITIV 2019 US program honors funds that have excelled in delivering consistently strong, risk-adjusted performance relative to peers.
