The SMSF Professionals’ Association of Australia (SPAA) today announced the appointment of Brett Kenny to the SPAA Board.

He brings a wealth of experience as well as knowledge about the organisation to this role, having been actively involved in building SPAA’s Victorian State Chapter.

Kenny is an experienced accountant with more than 30 years of experience. He is currently a director with the Melbourne-based accounting firm Rogerson Kenny where his main role is to provide taxation services to the growing clientele from the self managed super fund sector.

SPAA CEO Andrea Slattery said: “We welcome Brett to the SPAA Board. His work and experience in the SMSF sector will provide invaluable support to our members.

“Our sector has witnessed a lot of regulatory changes this year, with many of these involving tax, accountancy and auditing issues, so Brett’s knowledge in these fields will be a bonus to the board.”

Kenny said: “It was a great privilege to be asked to join the SPAA board, and I look forward to having input into an organisation that has played such a significant role in improving professional standards in the SMSF sector.”

Kenny, who graduated from Monash University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Economics degree majoring in accounting, began his career with Touche Ross & Co, a chartered accountancy firm that merged to become part of KPMG.

He joined one of the antecedent firms of Rogerson Kenny in 1984, and was admitted to the partnership of the current firm in 1992.

He is a SPAA SMSF Specialist Advisor™, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a Tax Agent and a CPA.
