The Fold Legal (The Fold) is expanding at a rapid rate. The firm has announced a partnership with Perpetual, a new hire to drive innovation and growth, new opportunities opening up in both the Sydney and Brisbane offices, and senior lawyers taking up or increasing shareholdings in the business.

Following a competitive process, The Fold has been appointed as Perpetual Private’s partner in offering accountants a licensing solution ahead of the impending removal of the Accountants’ Exemption for advice on Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs). This partnership builds on The Fold’s long history of helping financial services businesses to obtain and maintain their AFS licences.

Jaime Lumsden Kelly from The Fold said the firm was pleased to be working alongside one of Australia’s most trusted organisations to support Australian accountants.

“Together we are committed to supporting independent accountants to not only manage the upcoming licence changes with minimal disruption, but also to thrive in a post-exemption environment through the right tools and support.”

Underpinning The Fold’s growth are a number of changes. Emma Zadow has been appointed Head of Clients and Innovation, responsible for providing innovative strategy and direction around the way The Fold engages and services its clients.

The Fold Managing Director, Claire Wivell Plater says, “Emma’s appointment is really exciting for us, and reflects our commitment to making our service to clients even more responsive, especially as technology and the landscape within the financial services industry continues to change.”

Ms Zadow was previously National Manager – Business Development at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, where she was responsible for leading the firm’s client strategy.

The Fold’s senior lawyer, Jaime Lumsden Kelly has become a shareholder of the firm and been promoted to Solicitor Director, and Charmian Homes, current Solicitor Director, has increased her shareholding.

The Fold is also on the lookout for talented professionals in Brisbane and Sydney, currently recruiting a senior lawyer for each office and a paralegal in the Sydney office.
