Pzena Investment Management, LLC (Pzena), the New York-based, classic value global equities investment manager, is pleased to announce the expansion of its Australian business with the appointment of Mr. John Jardim to a leadership role, as a Director of Business Development and Client Services.

John will be based in Melbourne, working alongside Mr. David Taylor, to lead the Pzena business in Australia.

John Jardim has had a successful 20-year career in the Australian asset management industry, most recently as Head of Institutional Distribution at BNP Paribas Investment Management and previously spending 10 years at Blackrock Asset Management both in Institutional and Wholesale Distribution roles. He commenced his role with Pzena earlier in the month.

David Taylor said “Pzena is delighted to welcome John Jardim to a leadership role in our Australian team at an exciting time for the development of the firm’s interests in Australia and New Zealand. There is a heightened interest in our investment proposition following an upturn in the value cycle after a long period of drought for this style of investment and at a time when, despite some recent narrowing, investment spreads between value and growth stocks remain at unprecedented wide levels”.

Firm founder and CEO, Richard Pzena comments, “the Australian and New Zealand savings markets continue to represent a very attractive proposition for our firm both for their sophistication and scale. Already, we have established a strong position in these markets, and we are excited to have John Jardim joining us to help lead the next phase of our journey here”.

Pzena Investment Management, LLC (Pzena), a New York-based, global investment firm, is delighted to announce the launch of the first of two Australian pooled vehicles: the Pzena Emerging Markets Value Fund.

Equity Trustees Limited has been chosen as the responsible entity of the funds.

Established as an independent Trustee and Executor company in 1888, Equity Trustees has become one of Australia’s largest independent trustee companies.

The Pzena Emerging Markets Value Fund is available to institutional investors in Australia and New Zealand, and was opened in October with A$70 million of seeding. The Fund has a concentrated portfolio of approximately 50 companies selected from some of the most undervalued names in its 750 non-developed market company investment universe.

Pzena’s Director of Business Development & Client Services in Australia, David Taylor, said the new funds are a logical extension of Pzena’s A$2 billion separate accounts business in Australia, demonstrating that the firm is committed to offering a variety of services and vehicles to investors. Further, he said that the funds will exclude tobacco and cluster munitions manufacturers, a decision that was based on the firm’s many years working with institutional clients in the region.

Pzena – with Equity Trustees Limited as responsible entity – plans to launch their second Australian pooled vehicle: the Pzena Global Expanded Value Fund, early in 2017.
