Ella Tassi has been promoted to the role of chief marketing officer, with Nicole Hammond taking on the newly-created head of client experience position. Both appointments – effective immediately – are internal promotions and demonstrate the firm’s continuing focus to position itself globally.

Bennelong’s chief executive officer, Craig Bingham, said the appointments recognise the ongoing commitment and contribution made by Ms Tassi and Ms Hammond.

“Ella and Nicole both have an acute sense of Bennelong’s customer and brand proposition, and where we want to be over the coming few years in terms of growth and success of the funds,” he said.

Ms Tassi’s promotion to chief marketing officer is intended to foster growth by creating demand and reaching scale, as well as driving the development of Bennelong’s brands and customer focus.

“Ella has overseen the growth trajectory of the Bennelong brand and its 11 boutique partners for over a decade.

“As we continue to grow the business globally, her role has extended to more formally support activities in the UK and US, as well as here in Australia,” said Mr Bingham.

Ms Tassi was previously Bennelong’s head of marketing, and has also held in-house marketing roles with IOOF, National Australia Bank and AXA Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Sociology) from Swinburne University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma (Marketing) from RMIT University.

Ms Hammond’s appointment to head of client experience acknowledges the changing shape, nature and expectation of Bennelong’s customers, and the business’s commitment to understand and meet their needs.

“Given Nicole’s existing knowledge of the business and our client base, I’m confident she will elevate our client experience to be one that’s considered market-leading,” said Mr Bingham.

She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from RMIT University and is a Chartered Accountant.

“Both Ella and Nicole embody the characteristics needed for their roles, and are capable in both the soft and technical skills required.

Bennelong Funds Management (Bennelong) has promoted its Head of Finance, Hamish Wood, to Chief Strategy Officer. He will report to Chief Executive Officer Craig Bingham.

Hamish will be responsible for ensuring the operational goals of the business are aligned with Bennelong’s strategic direction.

“In his five years with Bennelong, Hamish has held a number of roles within the business and has a solid understanding of our future growth plans. He will lead the organisation-wide programs that will support our ongoing sustainable growth and will continue to support our off-shore efforts,” Craig said.

Hamish joined Bennelong in February 2012 as Head of Operations and Finance; he was promoted to Head of Finance and Governance before assuming his current position. He has over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to relocating to Melbourne, Hamish spent four years with GLG Partners in London as a manager in the Finance division. Other previous employers include Citigroup (London) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (New Zealand).

With the promotion of Hamish to his new role, Raymond Lau has been promoted to Head of Finance reporting to Chief Financial Officer Jeff Phillips.

Raymond joined Bennelong in September 2016 as Finance Manager and has over 11 years of experience. He previously held roles with Pentana Solutions as a global senior financial accountant and prior to that was a senior accountant at Bentleys MRI in the Business and Advisory Services division.

As Bennelong continues to grow, it is also expanding its marketing capabilities.

Hannah Pietsch has been appointed Communications Manager, reporting to Head of Marketing Ella Tassi. She joins from Russell Investments where she worked as Marketing Content Manager. Prior to this, Hannah spent 10 years with Australian Unity in a number of marketing, communications and public relations roles. Past employers include Vision 2020 Australia and World Vision Australia.

Steven Asquith has been appointed Digital Marketing Manager, also reporting to Ella. Steven’s previous roles include Marketing Manager at VicSuper, Marketing Manager at Salmat, plus roles at Dun & Bradstreet, GE Capital, and Origin Energy.

Minna Pacanowski has been promoted to Marketing Officer, Projects & Analytics, having joined Bennelong 18 months ago as Marketing Assistant.

The appointments and promotions enable Bennelong to boost its capability to support its eight boutique asset management teams in Australia.

“Attracting and retaining talent is a competitive advantage. The best way we can look after investors is by creating the right culture. A culture built around people, innovation, excitement and allowing people to grow within their role. In turn, it is this culture which helps the overall business grow,” said Craig.
