The Australian Investors Association (AIA) will hold its 2019 Annual Investment Summit on Friday 15th March at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour Sydney.

AIA President Graeme Bottrill believes that the Summit would be a useful event for self-directed investors to attend.

“People managing their investments and retirement needs have a lot to worry about in the current economy. There are experts predicting a 20% fall in Australian property prices, a change of Government will see major tax changes including the likely loss of franking credits,” said Graeme Bottrill.

“Internationally, global interest rates are raising, inflation is starting to rear its head again, company asset valuations are stretched, disruption is everywhere and markets are once again volatile. With most American economists now predicting a recession within the next two years, investors need to ensure they future proof their portfolios.

“We have engaged five financial experts to question whether a typical investment portfolio will stand up in the rapidly changing investment world” said Mr Graeme Bottrill, AIA President.

The Summit will provide a comprehensive look at the issues that are affecting investors and although there is always risk when investing, our experts will discuss the risks and how to reduce the impact on your portfolio.

The Summit will feature renowned speakers:

Brett Gillespie will comment on the global trade wars;

Doug Turek will speak on future proofing investment portfolios;

Max Newnham will discuss the effect of tax changes on portfolio income and tax rates

Paul Bloxham will present an economic outlook for the Australian economy in 2019; and

Julia Lee will finish the day by explaining how to position your portfolio for a disruptive economy.

Mr Bottrill said that all investors need to prepare for 2019 and beyond. There are some major issues about to impact portfolios and investors need to be prepared. The big question is: Are you ready to go Back to the Future?
