                                    <description><![CDATA[<h3>UniSuper, the $60 billion superannuation fund for Australia’s higher education and research sector, recently announced the appointment of Nicole Gower to its Board of Directors, along with the re-appointment of current Board members Stephen Somogyi, Grahame McCulloch and Neville Kitchin.</h3>
<p>Shareholders formally approved Nicole’s appointment at the UniSuper Annual General Meeting, on Monday 30 October 2017, replacing Dr Susan Gould who retired from the Board after completing three terms.</p>
<p>Nicole has worked in the University sector for 10 years, serving on the Executive Group of Macquarie University as Director of Human Resources since 2014. Prior to joining the sector, Nicole had a career as an employment lawyer in private practice.</p>
<p>Speaking on her appointment, Chairman Ian Martin said: “Nicole brings a sound knowledge of the technicalities of superannuation, having served on the board of directors for two superannuation funds; she understands the employment, taxation and trust deed aspects as well as the specific and unique needs of universities and employees at a strategic and practical level.”</p>
<p>“As a member of the UniSuper Board, she will bring a diversity of skills and experience with deep expertise in human resources, law, industrial relations, higher education and governance.”</p>
<p>Current Board members formally re-appointed include employer representative Stephen Somogyi, nominated by the Consultative Committee and national union representatives Grahame McCulloch, nominated by the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) and Neville Kitchin, nominated by the Community and Public Sector Union.</p>
