The Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) is thrilled to announce the 2017 FPA Professionals Congress will conclude with a dynamic conversation featuring three influential Australian couples exploring how partnerships are built on shared values, personal goals and providing support.

Waleed Aly and Dr Susan Carland, Paul and Dr Tami Roos, and Paul and Alicia West will take to the stage in Hobart this November to share their life stories, give insights and inspire us all to reflect further on how, in this rapidly changing world we live and work in, we too, can make a difference in ourselves, our clients and others.

FPA CEO, Dante De Gori CFP® said the addition of the couples to this year’s impressive set of speakers will encourage financial planners to rediscover the ways they develop long-term relationships with clients.

Waleed Aly and Dr Susan Carland – Partners in life for 15 years and counting, television presenter Waleed and wife Susan are champions of diversity and social justice, speaking out on polarising issues such as religion, politics, feminism and surviving in an ever-changing world.

Paul and Dr Tami Roos – Dr Tami Roos is a long-term advocate and practitioner of meditation and mindfulness as an essential part of our well-being and an important tool for creating resilience, balance, clarity and high performance in life. Paul is a legendary AFL coach who has been influenced by Tami’s insights and knowledge, to lead and inspire AFL teams on the field and in life.

Paul and Alicia West – Paul and Alicia realised their dream of running their own sustainable farm, showcasing real food and promoting community and regional living when Paul hosted River Cottage Australia, which became one of the most popular nonsport programs on subscription television.

Delegates are encouraged to book early for Hobart, to benefit from an early bird rate that provides a saving of $150 off the registration fee (closes 31 August). Delegates are also encouraged to book flights and accommodation in Hobart as far in advance as possible, to secure their first choice.

Further updates on speakers and the workshop program will be released in the lead up to the event. .

Dom Sagolla, Co-Creator of Twitter, is confirmed as a plenary speaker at the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA)’s annual conference at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast in October.

Dr Sagolla will share with delegates the story of how, as employees, he and his co-workers co-created the social medium, which today has more than 100 million users worldwide, only to be laid off.

“Dom has the comeback story to beat all comeback stories,” says AFA CEO Brad Fox. “After he left the company, he made a conscious decision to learn from the experience and reinvent himself. Today he heads up an innovative phone apps company and has been named an International Genius by the City of Amsterdam for his career and leadership in the technology industry. He will be inspiring advisers to pull through tough times and focus on delivering great outcomes for clients.”

The AFA has also secured customer service guru and New York Times best selling author, Ron Kaufman to address delegates on the topic of creating a powerful service reputation and a superior service culture.

“Having Ron as a plenary speaker underscores the theme of the AFA Conference – The Age of Consumers,” Mr Fox says. “The AFA is all about helping advisers deliver excellent service outcomes for clients and in the process build robust, resilient and profitable businesses.”

With 12 plenary sessions and 39 stream and masterclass sessions lined up for this year’s AFA Conference, Mr Fox says delegates are in for both quality and quantity when they step through the door of the Royal Pines Resort in October.

“Mark Bouris, Executive Chairman of Yellow Brick Road Wealth Management will also be joining us, along with Paul Roos, AFL Premiership Coach,” he says. “Mark grew up in the Sydney working class of Punchbowl and has built businesses literally from nothing into multi-million dollar companies. He will be speaking on building a trusted brand. Paul was rated the best footballer in Australia when he played for Fitzroy and Sydney in the 1980s and 1990s. As coach, he led the Sydney Swans to victory in the 2005 premiership – the team’s first in 72 years. Paul will be sharing his leadership skills and will focus on how to build a ‘premiership culture’ – a lesson that translates perfectly to business.”

Mr Fox says this year’s AFA Conference introduces sessions designed to include and engage delegates who may be new to the industry, or ‘first-timers’ to an AFA Conference.

“At the heart of every AFA Conference is the AFA community,” he says. “The vibe of the event and the number of people willing to share stories, discuss solutions and offer support is unique and something we take great pride in.”

To find out more and to register your place at the AFA Conference from 12-15 October, please visit the AFA Conference Website.
