A leading voice in the provision of renewable energy, Katerina Kimmorley, will be the guest speaker for the Women in Wealth breakfast at the Financial Planning Association (FPA) Professionals Congress in Hobart.

Pene Lovett, Chief Operating Officer of the FPA said Katerina’s adventurous spirit and role in co-founding Pollinate Energy, a cause driven business that brings light to slums across India, will inspire delegates to embrace change and think differently about the challenges they face.

“As a social entrepreneur, Katerina is driven by the desire to help people and create a more sustainable world. Pollinate Energy brings life-changing solar powered products to the millions living in poverty in India’s urban slums and her courageous work is making a real difference in people’s lives. We’re delighted that she’ll be sharing her story with us at Congress.”

Katerina grew up in Sydney, and after completing a Masters from the London School of Economics in the broad areas of environmental economics and climate change, she decided to co-found Pollinate Energy – a startup that delivered simple, low-cost solar lighting to slum households as a replacement to toxic kerosene lamps.

Pollinate Energy has made a significant impact in India by developing a distribution network on the ground selling solar lamps on short term, affordable payment plans so that residents can access clean and safe light sources.

Katerina was recognised by the Australian Financial Review as one of Australia’s 100 Women of Influence and is an adviser on Climate Change to the NSW Government, British Council and private sector.

She is also currently with the Clean Energy Finance Corporation’s $200 million Innovation Fund, the biggest venture capital fund in the world for CleanTech. The fund is supporting the growth of innovative clean energy technologies and businesses which are critical to Australia’s clean energy transformation.

The Women in Wealth Breakfast will take place from 7:30am on Thursday 23 November 2017 as part of the FPA Professionals Congress. It is an opportunity for Congress delegates to network and hear a prominent female role model. Men and women alike are encouraged attend the event.

The breakfast complements an impressive program of 24 workshops presented by top industry experts and inspiring keynote speakers from a range of fields, including futurist, strategist and global nomad Mike Walsh, thought leader Dr Daniel Susskind and writer and broadcaster Claudia Hammond in conversation with Effie Zahos, editor of Money.

FPA’s Women in Wealth breakfast is generously supported by event partner, Commonwealth Private.
