Marc Bineham’s professionalism earns national award

Marc Bineham, a Sydney-based financial adviser and NSW/ACT state director of the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA), has been awarded Risk Adviser of the Year by Professional Investment Services (PIS), Australia’s leading independently-owned network of financial advisers and accountants.

Mr Bineham was chosen from more than 1257 financial advisers in PIS’ Australian network at the 2011 Annual Conference. The qualifications are judged by the PIS executive and management team and based on a combination of factors that include production, professional standards, ongoing activity, business growth, and advocacy of the Group.

Marc Bineham said the award was a great honour and very unexpected. “Noall & Co. is delighted to be acknowledged for all its hard work,” he said. “It is the appreciation from our clients and the dedication of our staff that really make us feel proud about what we do.”

Call for AFA 2011 Rising Star of the Year Award nominations

The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) is calling for nominations for the 2011 AFA Rising Star of the Year Award (the Award), sponsored for the seventh consecutive year by OnePath.

To be considered a Rising Star, young advisers need to:

Demonstrate high levels of advisory skills and knowledge
Have been working as an adviser for three years or less
Be based in a practice, either as an employee or as a principal
Provide quality/holistic advice, including risk advice
Have made contributions to the community
Have contributed to the industry
Have an appropriate educational background and qualifications.

Richard Klipin, Chief Executive Officer of the AFA, said the Award is designed to recognise the finest new talent in financial advice.

“The nominees are tomorrow’s industry leaders. They have the power to make a difference when it comes to the future of our industry – and we must nurture and support them to this end,” he said.

NAB Private Wealth tops private banking awards

NAB Private Wealth was honoured last night at the Australian Private Banking Council 2011 Awards ceremony in Sydney.

Private bankers from National Australia Bank won the categories of Outstanding Relationship Manager, Outstanding New Relationship Manager and Industry Thought Leader. In addition NAB Private Wealth itself was named runner-up in the category of Outstanding Institution ($10-$30m).

Leigh O’Neill was named Outstanding Relationship Manager, Vera Ou-Young was named Outstanding New Relationship Manager and NAB Private Wealth’s Executive General Manager Angela Mentis was presented with the Outstanding Industry Thought Leader award for a second time.

NAB Private Wealth topped the awards table winning more categories than any other private bank.

AXA Financial Advice Network announces national adviser of the year

AXA’s Financial Advice Network has announced the winner of its national annual adviser award, the Gerald Lippman Perpetual Trophy. This year’s winner is Paul Aspros of PSK Financial Services

“This award is presented to the most outstanding adviser who has contributed not only to the AXA network, but to their local and wider community, as well as the profession”, said Andrew Waddell, AXA Financial Advice Network’s General Manager.

“Each year we assess professional and practice development, feedback from colleagues and the contributions made by the individual, and this year Paul Aspros certainly stood out as someone who strives to make a difference in people’s lives.”

“This is the highest honour AXA Financial Advice Network can bestow on one of its advisers,” he said.

Mr Aspros is the practice principle of Sydney based PSK Financial Services, licensed with Charter Financial Planning. Over the years Paul has led the practice through significant growth, and successfully incorporated a number of smaller practices through their business model to become the network’s largest advice business. He was the previous chairman of the Authorised Representatives’ Association (ARA) and is highly respected within AXA’s Financial Advice Network.

“To be recognised by your peers is always a great honour. I consider many of my fellow advisers as great friends and role models”.

Mr Aspros also acknowledged there were some challenges ahead for the wider industry.

“While there is some uncertainty as we look ahead, uncertainty brings with it opportunity, and I am looking forward to seeing advisers take advantage of these opportunities with the support of AMP,” he said.

Away from the office, Aspros is the manager of the Sydney University Football Club under 15’s team and recently took a team of young footballers on an overseas tour of Spain. He has also been instrumental in organising and running highly successful charity events for the Heart and Starlight Foundations.

In 2010 he was actively involved in the development of the Breast Cancer Awareness Workshop and the PSK Prostate Cancer Awareness Workshop that provided educational forums to assist with the prevention or early detection of these diseases.

Financial advisers recognised through the 2010 Hillross Awards Program

The 2010 Hillross Awards Program has recognised advisers and advisory firms across the country for their high levels of professionalism, wealth management expertise, customer service and business efficiency.

The awards are open to financial advisers and advisory firms across the Hillross network. The winners are determined by an expert panel of industry representatives, including the Financial Planning Association and PwC.

Hillross Managing Director Hugh Humphrey said, “Each of the award nominees has shown a passion and commitment for high quality advice and client service. These advisers and advisory firms have demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism and each should be very proud of this achievement.”

Hillross financial adviser Diane Chalk of Hillross Fairy Meadow (NSW) was named the 2010 Hillross Adviser of the Year.

Ms Chalk has been an adviser for 25 years and a Hillross Authorised Representative for 12 years. She has established a high profile in the Illawarra region and is well respected by her clients.

“Dianne displays great passion and integrity. She continually provides quality advice for all her clients and actively shares best practice ideas with industry networks,” said Mr Humphrey.

The Hillross Advisory Firm of the Year award was presented to Arrive Wealth Management (South East Queensland).

Arrive Wealth Management has a professional services approach to financial advisory and all their senior advisers are CFP or CA designated. The firm has strong referral relationships from professional firms including PwC, KPMG, Lyons & Judge and Pilot Partners.
