More than 850 insurance professionals gathered at The Star Event Centre in Sydney tonight for the 21st Australian Insurance Industry Awards, hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), to celebrate the winners of the 2025 Awards and recognise outstanding service and professionalism across the sector.

Hosted by TV personality Osher Günsberg, the evening was a spectacular celebration of the industry’s resilience and innovation. Guests were treated to a breathtaking aerial display by Leo Pentland and a powerful performance from proud Gamilaraay man and multimedia artist Mitch Tambo, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and unity.

Honouring industry icons

The highest honours of the evening, the Lifetime Achiever Awards, were presented to two iconic industry leaders:

Robert Kelly AM, Co-founder and CEO of Steadfast, recognised for his visionary leadership and tireless commitment to strengthening the broking community.

Ian Carr, Founder of Insurance Advisernet, honoured for his pioneering spirit and dedication to building one of Australia’s most successful broker networks.

Both leaders were recognised for their enduring impact on the broking profession and their role in shaping today’s insurance landscape.

Recognising industry excellence

The Awards celebrated achievement across broking, underwriting, claims, life insurance, insurtech and professional services — recognising organisations and individuals who set benchmarks for professional standards, innovation, and customer care.

2025 Award Winners:

Small-Medium Broking Company of the Year: Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers

Service Provider to the Insurance Industry: EML

Excellence in Workplace Diversity and Inclusion: Swiss Re

Young Insurance Professional of the Year: Ben McInnes, MHIA Insurance

A celebration of unity and purpose

In her welcome address, ANZIIF CEO Katrina Shanks paid tribute to the collective strength of the insurance profession:

“Our industry stands as a pillar of trust and resilience — always ready to support customers through times of uncertainty and change. Tonight, we honour not only exceptional achievement, but our shared mission to protect and support communities across Australia.”

ANZIIF extended its gratitude to the many sponsors, corporate supporters, and judges who made the Awards possible, noting their role in strengthening the profession and upholding the standards of fairness and excellence.

Looking ahead

Now in their 21st year, the Awards continue to set the benchmark for professional recognition in insurance. More than a celebration of past achievements, the 2025 Awards reaffirm the industry’s ongoing commitment to lifelong learning, innovation, and community impact — with the bar set higher each year.
