The Tura Capital Global Small & Mid Cap Fund, launched in December 2023, has received a ’Recommended’ rating in its initial review by Lonsec Research.

The Tura Capital Global Small & Mid Cap Fund is a global investment product designed to provide investors with a diversified exposure to high growth companies in developed markets worldwide. It invests in a concentrated portfolio of between 25 to 45 stocks that the manager believes have reasonable valuations and can compound returns.

“We are delighted that Lonsec has recognised the ‘robust investment process’ of our team that manages the Tura Capital Global Small & Mid Cap Fund – Brad Partridge and Oliver Attwater.” Robert White, Chief Executive Officer of Tura Capital’s parent company, DNR Capital.

Brad Partridge joined Tura Capital in 2022 following 15 years as a Portfolio Manager at Macquarie Asset Management. Oliver Attwater jointly manages the specialist capability, after relocating from Robeco in Rotterdam, where he jointly managed an €8.4 billion fundamental all-cap global equities strategy. Tura Capital comprises a dedicated team of four global equity investment professionals.

The Fund employs Tura Capital’s investment philosophy of identifying quality global small and mid cap companies that are well placed to deliver strong investment returns through economic cycles.

Lonsec sighted a clearly articulated investment philosophy supported by a robust investment process; a total fee load below the peer median; and the support of parent DNR Capital as strengths of the Fund.

“The Fund’s track record is still being developed; however the investment process is closely aligned with the manager’s investment philosophy, and likely to produce a portfolio with characteristics fitting the expected profile of a small and mid cap, quality at a reasonable price (QARP) strategy,” Lonsec said in its report.

“Lonsec has recognised the rigorous investment process we use to manage the Fund, which is designed to be disciplined and transparent. Our proprietary process screens the vast universe of global small and mid cap companies for quality characteristics. We then conduct detailed fundamental research to identify the highest quality opportunities, resulting in a concentrated but diversified portfolio of typically 25 to 45 high-quality companies trading at reasonable valuations,” portfolio manager Brad Partridge said.

“This rating will help raise the awareness of the alpha opportunity available in global small and mid cap companies and Tura Capital’s quality-focused investment approach,” Partridge added.

The Fund has a management fee of 0.98% per annum and a performance fee of 15% on excess returns, after management fees, above the Fund’s benchmark.

North, one of Australia’s leading wrap investment platforms, continues to expand its investment menu with the addition of seven actively managed portfolios to the platform.

North’s broader menu has also grown this year with the addition of 44 new managed funds, as AMP continues to invest in choice and optionality for advisers.

The last 12 months has seen growing demand from advisers for more choice in ESG options on North, providing their clients with flexibility when it comes to selecting responsible investment options.

Responding to adviser demand, North is pleased to welcome the addition of DNR Capital’s Australian Equities Socially Responsible Portfolio to the platform.

The portfolio offers concentrated exposure to high quality large and mid-cap Australian listed equities.

DNR Capital’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert White says: “We are proud and honoured to be recognised by Lonsec for our flagship Fund which boasts a long track record of delivering outperformance[2] through multiple market cycles.

“We are also pleased to announce that all DNR Capital Australian equity large cap strategies and funds are ‘Highly Recommended’ by Lonsec.”

The Fund has posted returns[2] of 18.22%p.a. since its inception in August 2018, outperforming the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Accumulation Index by 9.65%p.a.

The Fund offers investors a concentrated exposure to Australian small companies. The Fund’s investment process takes a long-term approach, identifying high quality small cap companies trading at attractive valuations. Sam Twidale and Mark Sedawie are the Portfolio Managers for the Fund, which consists of between 20 and 45 of their highest conviction ideas.

Robert White, CEO of DNR Capital adds: “We are very pleased to see this Fund added to these leading platforms, increasing its availability for financial advisers. We are now in a position to provide access to the Fund on nine different wrap platforms.

“We are seeing strong interest in this Fund and are encouraged by the support from consultants, advisers and investment platforms. DNR Capital has generated a consistent track record of outperformance in large caps over the last 18 years, and the performance of this Fund since launching has validated our reason for entering the small cap space.”

Sam Twidale, Portfolio Manager for the DNR Capital Australian Emerging Companies Fund says: “We back quality small cap companies because we believe they can successfully reinvest capital and achieve pricing power that allows them to grow above inflation.

“Additionally, these companies have strong balance sheets that allow them to ride out cycles, along with providing strategic optionality.

“We believe the Australian small cap sector is a particularly inefficient part of the market, providing significant opportunities to add value from applying a consistent and proven investment process. We believe our quality discipline is proving to be more relevant to this part of the market, especially as investors focus on the prospect of a strong recovery from the coronavirus pandemic combined with significant pent-up demand and rebound of the global economy over coming quarters,” notes Twidale.
