Warakirri Asset Management has appointed Rory Irvine as a Business Development Manager responsible for expanding the firm’s relationships in the Retail Advisory, Family Office and High Net Worth markets across New South Wales, the ACT and Queensland.

Based in the firm’s Sydney office and working alongside Trent Faehndrich who joined Warakirri’s Distribution team in early 2025, Rory joins at an exciting time for the business as it continues to broaden its footprint across its agriculture and equities offerings.

The Warakirri Global Emerging Markets Fund recently surpassed $200 million in funds under management with Warakirri experiencing sustained inflows over the course of the last 12 months as investors sought differentiated sources of return outside of developed markets, while the ClariVest Global Small Companies Fund launched in August of last year and exclusively distributed by Warakirri recently achieved an inaugural “Recommended” rating from Zenith. 

Rory brings more than 10 years’ experience working in financial services across asset management and investment distribution. He joined Warakirri from Nanuk Asset Management having previously held roles at Ellerston Capital and AMP Capital.  Rory holds a Master of Commerce majoring in Finance from UNSW and a Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University.

Trent Faehndrich

Warakirri Asset Management has appointed Trent Faehndrich as Regional Manager responsible for expanding Warakirri’s relationships in the Family Office, High Net Worth (HNW) and Retail Advisory markets in New South Wales and Queensland.

Reporting to Warakirri’s Head of Distribution, Stuart Devlin, and based in the firm’s Sydney office, Trent joins at an exciting time for the business as it looks to broaden its retail footprint leveraging its existing agriculture and equities offerings, and as it actively seeks to add and distribute new investment partners as part of the growth of its managed funds platform.

Trent’s strong network, coupled with his client-first approach and significant industry experience across key facets of the advice market, will help build on our relationships with our key client groups,” said Mr. Devlin.

Trent has over 25 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and joins Warakirri from La Trobe Financial where he was previously State Manager – Client Partnerships NSW. His previous experience includes business development and relationship management roles at National Australia Bank and Macquarie Bank. Trent holds a Diploma of Financial Markets, Diploma of Financial Services, Diploma of Financial Planning and is RG146 accredited.

Reporting to Ben Williams, Head of Private Wealth, who joined Warakirri in November of last year, Melanie will be responsible for expanding the firm’s relationships in the Family Office, High Net Worth (HNW) and Retail Advisory markets in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

Melanie has over 20 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and joins Warakirri from State Street Global Advisors where she was previously a Regional Manager.  Her previous experience includes business development roles at Generation Life as well as spending time as a financial planner at ANZ Bank. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wollongong and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning from Kaplan Professional.

Ben Williams

Multi boutique funds manager Warakirri Asset Management, has announced the appointment of Ben Williams to the newly created role of Head of Private Wealth.

Reporting to Warakirri’s Head of Distribution, Stuart Devlin, and based in Sydney, Mr. Williams joins the firm as it continues to grow its distribution team and broaden its footprint across NSW and Queensland, and the private wealth channel.

Mr. Williams brings to the role more than 20 years of experience in financial services working across funds management and wholesale distribution. He has held a range of local and regional leadership positions with BlackRock, Lazard Asset Management and most recently with UBS Asset Management. His experience in managing teams and client relationships extends nationally and across the advice ecosystem and includes the co-design of various investment solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the portfolio construction industry.

The addition comes following the recent appointment of Tim Lang to the newly created position of Research Relationships Manager. Warakirri is also currently recruiting for a further distribution individual in Melbourne.

Our new Global Emerging Markets strategy managed by our investment partner Northcape Capital, has already received a recommended rating from two of the major Australian research houses and secured several key platform and managed account positions,” said Mr. Devlin.

“And our Australian small caps fund managed by Flinders Investment Partners is also going from strength to strength, with an excellent long term performance track record, more than tripling in size since Warakirri acquired its equity stake in the firm in the middle of last year,” he added.

Mr. Lang was appointed to the role following both an external and internal search and will work closely with research houses to manage the ratings across Warakirri’s range of investment funds. He will also engage with platform and dealer group researchers on the inclusion of Warakirri’s funds in their model and implemented portfolios and take on responsibility for managing the firm’s institutional asset consultant relationships.

Stuart Devlin, Warakirri Head of Distribution said: “Research houses and investment consultants play an important role in our industry and across our client base.  With Tim’s in-depth portfolio construction knowledge and his strong ability to articulate our fund managers’ investment process and philosophies, he’ll play a significant role in building and managing these vital relationships.”

Mr. Lang’s appointment means Warakirri is currently in the process of recruiting a replacement for his previous position in its distribution team which was responsible for adviser and client relationships across Victoria and South Australia.

“As we continue to experience solid growth across our business and investment capabilities, in addition to Tim’s replacement, we will also be recruiting a senior distribution resource to add to our team covering NSW and Queensland,” added Mr. Devlin.

Mr. Lang joined Warakirri in 2012 as a member of the Operations team where he gained experience across fund accounting, unit pricing and investor reporting as well as supporting Warakirri’s proprietary After-Tax analytics capability.  He has also held the position of Investment Specialist where he worked closely with Warakirri’s institutional clients to develop and deliver tailored investment solutions to meet their needs.

He has 10 years of experience in the financial services industry and is also a member of Warakirri’s Investment Committee contributing to client portfolio asset allocation decisions, portfolio analytics and day-to-day management of the Warakirri Cash Deposits Trust.

Mr. Lang holds a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Finance from Stetson University (USA). He is a CFA charterholder, having completed the program in 2019 and is RG146 compliant.
