Ms Metcalfe joins from Schroders where she was a business development account manager. Prior to this she was partnerships manager with Livewire Markets. She also spent six years at Fidelity International in the UK and Sydney in account management and marketing roles. Prior to this she worked with Perpetual and Anittel in marketing and events roles.

Mr Srinivasan says Ms Metcalfe brings to the role over a decade’s worth of experience in marketing and distribution across a broad range of financial service enterprises.

“Sophie has strong technical knowledge and a good understanding of the needs of financial advisers. These strong links, and her reputation for delivering outstanding service to the financial advice community, make her an excellent choice for the role,” Mr Srinivasan said.

In her new role, Ms Metcalfe will work with Mr Srinivasan and the broader distribution team to cultivate strong relationships with advisers across the country and in so doing, increase awareness of Maple-Brown Abbott’s capabilities across asset classes. 

“Sophie’s work with the Schroders Investment Education Community in particular demonstrates her ability to communicate and work with financial advisers by delivering valuable insights,” Mr Srinivasan said.

Ms Metcalfe has a Bachelor of Commerce, Management & Business Law from the University of Technology, Sydney.

She commenced with Maple-Brown Abbott on 18 March.

Simon Beram has been promoted to head of institutional and research relationships. Mr Beram will continue his focus on researchers and has taken on responsibility for institutional and consultant relationships for all Maple-Brown Abbott investment strategies, collaborating with Greg Stark, Investment Director, for global listed infrastructure.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector, Mr Beram joined Maple-Brown Abbott in April 2006 and has held various roles including Head of Client Service and Senior Investment Specialist.

Vijay Srinivasan has been promoted to head of wholesale distribution. Since joining Maple-Brown Abbott in November 2021 as national key account manager, Mr Srinivasan has helped build Maple-Brown Abbott’s internal wholesale capability and will now take the lead on wholesale distribution for all strategies other than global listed infrastructure.

Mr Srinivasan has worked across sales and distribution for over 20 years, including at Colonial First State, BlackRock, Barclays and BT Financial Group.

Russell Edwards has been promoted to head of marketing and client service. Since joining Maple-Brown Abbott in April this year as communications manager, his responsibilities have broadened to include leading the client service function and he will now take on overall responsibility for marketing strategy and execution.

Mr Edwards was previously an associate director with KPMG and has worked in marketing and communications across financial services for over twenty years.

He will be based in Sydney and report to head of global distribution Duncan Hodnett. Ironbark Asset Management will continue to be the distribution partner for Maple-Brown Abbott Global Listed Infrastructure for the wealth management channel.

Mr Srinivasan, who has more than 20 years’ experience in wealth management, was most recently head of strategic accounts at Colonial First State (CFS).

CEO and managing director Sophia Rahmani said Maple-Brown Abbott is expanding its internal distribution capability to further focus on building relationships in the wealth management channel for its existing Australian and Asian equity funds as well as the recently launched Australian Value Opportunities and Asian Dividend Growth funds.

“This is our first internal role dedicated to building our presence and profile in Australia covering financial advisers, dealer groups, platforms and key accounts.

“Building on nearly 40 years’ managing Australian equities and almost 20 years’ in Asian equities, we have a rich heritage providing innovative investment solutions for our clients and feel we are in a good position to add value to clients’ investment portfolios.

“Mr Srinivasan’s track record as a strategic sales leader in the wealth management industry and his strong relationships across market segments make him ideal to help us form strong relationships and build on our existing presence,” Ms Rahmani said.

Maple-Brown Abbott is also launching a global emerging market equity strategy which is expected be available to investors by mid-2022.

Mr Srinivasan joined CFS in 2014, working as a strategic account manager before moving into the head of strategic accounts role in 2018. Prior to this, he was national key account manager at Blackrock and previously worked as national account manager at Barclays Global Investors and adviser development manager at BT.

He has a Bachelor of Economics and Marketing from Macquarie University and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance from FINSIA/Kaplan.
