First home-grown fund manager launches free educational webinars for advisers

Hyperion Asset Management will launch a series of quarterly educational webinars for financial advisers, with the first of the sessions held yesterday.

More than 120 advisers registered for the first webinar – “What’s happening to Australian Equities? What you need to know when talking with your clients” – to be hosted by Hyperion’s Managing Director and Investment Committee Chair, Dr Manny Pohl.

Topics covered in the webinar included an overview of the current financial market, explaining how to deal with market volatility in a defined contribution world. The live webinar series will provide financial advisers with an in-depth update on current market activity, making Hyperion the first Australian boutique fund manager to offer such a service.

According to Dr Pohl, this new service has partly been driven as a result of the recent financial market volatility.

“With market volatility and uncertainty at extreme levels in the past month, we wanted to give advisers relevant information so they can provide reassurance to their clients,” said Dr Pohl.

“This is a clear value proposition that we know the adviser network is keen to embrace for the benefit of their clients.”

Dr Pohl hopes the webinars will help strengthen Hyperion’s existing relationships with advisers across Australia.

“The response we’ve had is remarkable and proves that there is an appetite out there for up-to-the minute, relevant information. The benefit of a live interactive webinar is its ability to allow advisers to talk directly to us – the fund manager – and we expect some interesting discussions in the Q&A section in particular,” said Dr Pohl.

Advisers can register to view the quarterly webinars live at http://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/6707/34105 or alternatively can access the presentation for free from the Hyperion website – www.hyperionam.com.au
