AMP launches retail financial planning centre

AMP has launched a new retail centre for financial planning in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell – the first in Victoria and second nationally – following the successful launch of the first centre in Sydney’s Parramatta.

Centrally located in the heart of Camberwell, the purpose-built centre will bring together 18 new and experienced self-employed financial planners in one AMP-branded premises. Customers will be able to talk face-to-face with a planner of their choice or access information on AMP products and services.

The centre already has 10 financial planners, including Michael Roach of AFL Richmond Tigers fame, with another four arriving in October.

AMP Financial Services Managing Director Craig Meller said the Centre’s opening is about making quality financial advice more accessible and affordable to people in Melbourne.

“The launch of the new centre in Camberwell helps remove some of the barriers to give people to access quality, affordable financial advice and experience the difference it can make in their lives.

“We selected Camberwell because it’s a great central hub for the people we want to reach,” Mr Meller said.

Mr Meller said he is expecting the Camberwell centre to mirror the success of the centre in Parramatta. In its first year, planners at the Parramatta centre received around 11,500 calls and met with close to 1,500 Australians, with both customers and planners benefiting from the flexible approach to planning.

As with the Parramatta centre, planners at the centre in Camberwell will benefit from an on-site AMP specialist support team who will take care of practice management and administration, led by AMP Business Partnership Manager Frank Welsh.

“The centre’s planners will have support in the day-to-day running of the business, allowing them to focus on what they do best – providing clear, relevant and tailored financial solutions to help strengthen the financial future of more Australians,” Mr Meller said.
The centre’s opening also marks the first time the new AMP branding has been incorporated on an AMP premises.
