BlackRock yesterday announced that Kate McDermott has joined BlackRock as director and head of southern region sales within its Wealth Advisory group. Ms McDermott will report to James Langlands, head of Wealth Advisory, and will be based in Melbourne.
The Wealth Advisory group is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with various financial advisory businesses in Australia.
Ms McDermott has over 12 years experience in distribution and joins BlackRock from Aberdeen Asset Management where she was national account manager. She held a range of distribution roles across Aberdeen’s retail business and that of its predecessor firm Credit Suisse.
Mr Langlands said Ms McDermott’s breadth of experience in a range of distribution roles makes her a valuable addition to BlackRock’s Wealth Advisory group.
“Kate’s appointment will further strengthen our relationships in the southern region and demonstrates our commitment to assisting our advisory clients in building quality portfolios,” said Mr Langlands.
Team members Mr James Biggins and Ms Leila Romanos will support Ms McDermott in looking after clients in Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.
