FPA to ‘Share the Dream’ this Financial Planning Week

Dante De GoriThe Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) has announced “Share the Dream” as its theme for the 18th annual Financial Planning Week (20-26 August 2018).

The campaign this year aims to raise awareness about the importance of parents having frequent and open conversations with their children about money.

The FPA will kick-off Financial Planning Week on Monday 20 August by releasing a newly commissioned “Share the Dream” national consumer research report that includes data quantifying Australian parents’ views on raising the ‘Invisible-Money Generation’, with fascinating insights into links between teens and work, pocket money, what age 4-18 year old children are being spoken to by parents on various money topics, and four new money-parent personalities.

The FPA is calling on the broader financial services community to unite behind its “Share the Dream” message this year by sharing the research findings and associated campaign assets in their own circles of influence. As well as the 18-page “Share the Dream” research report created in partnership with Curious Co, the week long campaign will include national media outreach, shareable videos, Money & Life consumer website content, and an eBook with expert articles, insights and activities to help parents, educators, and carers talk with kids about money.

FPA CEO, Dante De Gori, CFP® said: “In 2016 we uncovered the financial hopes and fears of Australians, and produced the “Dare to Dream” report. Last year we discovered that Australians who are living the dream are nearly three times more likely to seek financial advice than those not living the dream, uncovered in our 2017 “Live the Dream” report.

“This year we continue the dream theme to reveal how we as a nation are sharing the dream of a financially stable life with the next generation – what we’re calling the Invisible-Money Generation – for whom the digital economy and online transactions are the norm.

“Financial literacy is key to people making confident decisions that shape their future. This year’s theme will open up conversations about the importance of financial wellbeing for the whole family, including future generations,” said Mr De Gori.

Financial Planning Week happens every year in August. This year it runs from Monday 20 August to Sunday 26 August. FPA Facebook will share a range of content throughout the week. FPA members are invited to head to the FPA Member Centre for more information.
