Australian based financial advice technology provider Midwinter Financial Services has announced its integration with Class, a leading provider of cloud software for administration and reporting of SMSF and non-super investment portfolios.

Both companies are renowned for their open API philosophy which allows for integrations with third party applications, removing the need for rekeying of data and allowing the flow of data between the applications.

This particular integration will allow users of both Midwinter’s AdviceOS and Class to sync and replicate portfolios from Class into Midwinter’s AdviceOS, and allows users to update portfolio balances in AdviceOS overnight. The integration also allows for Class funds to be prepopulated, updated and used throughout AdviceOS like a normal portfolio.

The new integration marks another significant development in Class’ strategy to support advisers in the efficient delivery of advice, enabling effective collaboration across advisers, accountants and their clients and providing a single, consistent and up to date view of investment portfolios across SMSF and non-super entities.

The integration requires very little manual set-up or training – users can begin utilising the joint solution immediately after it has been activated.

Midwinter Executive Director and Chief Technology Officer – Andrew McClelland is pleased with the integration, saying “We’re delighted to further expand our open technology ecosystem to include Class – a firm which we believe to be a significant and trusted player in the SMSF technology space. This project was undertaken off the back of high user demand and we are looking forward to delivering the integrated solution to our clients.”

“By undertaking this partnership, we are further opening up the suite of choice for advisers when it comes to picking their tech stack – which at the end of the day, should be the focus of the future within financial planning technology.”

“The idea of open API isn’t a ‘new age’ philosophy anymore. This is a must have for any FinTech who wants to be operating in five years’ time.”

Strategic Alliances Director at Class, Glenn Poynton was also excited about the integration, saying “We’re delighted to announce this new integration, which enables data to be seamlessly shared between users of Midwinter and Class, and provides a single view of wealth across all investment portfolios.

“A key component of our roadmap is the delivery of further support for advisers. This latest development is a great example of using best practice technology integration to help advisers drive greater business efficiencies, reduce costs and boost client service levels.”

Midwinter has announced that it has launched ‘The Midwinter Academy” – a state-of-the-art digital training portal for its users.

The newly created online training portal will ease the planning software transition process, allowing advisers and their support staff to undertake training specific to their software solution at any time, from anywhere and on any device.

Speaking of the Academy, Chief of Technology and Executive Director, Andrew McClelland said “Over the last ten years we’ve noticed a rapid increase in demand for our users to undertake training and support digitally rather than through traditional methods like written manuals and face to face training days/sessions. Whilst there are already several ways for companies to train users remotely, often these systems can be clunky or complicated and the end user experience isn’t amazing.”

“By creating the Midwinter academy, we have developed a state of the art one stop training shop, where users are able to login into one intuitive, simple and easy to navigate portal. The Academy provides the convenience of having all of Midwinter’s training material located in a one interface for easy access – with several different channels/methods of training delivery available.”

“Recently it has also come to our when Licensees and large practices are transferring from one software to another, one of the biggest hurdles they face during the transition period is training their staff on the new solution. The Midwinter Academy was created as a result of identifying this issue, ensuring that software training undertaken during a transition is done with minimal disturbance to advice businesses.”
