Over 60s are the biggest users of AMP’s new Facebook messenger “bot”, designed to assist those seeking financial help and information on COVID-19.

The bot asks users who interact with it a series of questions then, based on their answers, directs them  to the information they need on AMP’s COVID-19 Help Hub.

The Hub is for AMP and non-AMP customers and contains information on managing different financial scenarios, topical articles, and guides to the broad range of assistance available from the government and the financial sector, including AMP.

AMP Chief Client Officer Ant Dureau said the engagement by over 60s with the bot disproved the notion that older people were uncomfortable with technology and also showed this age group were seeking answers.

“The most selected topic via the bot has been help for those suffering financial hardship, showing the impact the downturn in financial markets is having on retirees who rely on their investments for income,” Mr Dureau said.

“We’ve made available a range of guides and information resources to help people find the answers they need to manage through the crisis – AMP is here to help however we can and in ways which are easiest for our clients.

“We encourage Australians in difficulty to take advantage of AMP’s COVID-19 Help Hub and also to give us a call if they need further assistance.”

AMP has increased the functionality of its everyday banking and wealth management website, My AMP, to help its 650,000 clients take greater control of their finances.

My AMP is the one-stop online wealth management technology for day-to-day banking, tracking cashflow and budgeting, reviewing and changing super and insurance arrangements, and accessing investment research. Bank accounts from other financial institutions can also be incorporated to provide a complete wealth picture.

My AMP’s new features and design makeover further build on this functionality including:

• A new interactive goals timeline where clients can identify their goals and source educational materials
• A streamlined navigation menu design, which now includes Wealth and Goals, providing easier access to My AMP’s range of features and functionality
• Through the Wealth menu, clients can access AMP’s Money Manager budgeting tool and manage their assets and liability information, and
• Regular tasks such as view statements, transfer funds or pay bills can all be completed under a new “I want to” quick links.

The team will report to Alex Wade, AMP CEO Australian Wealth Management, with a focus on providing better experiences and outcomes for our clients through a simpler, more efficient business and stronger risk controls.

The new appointments are:

• Lakshman Anantakrishnan, Chief Investment Officer. Mr Anantakrishnan will focus on supporting AMP’s superannuation trustees to ensure members receive the strongest possible investment returns. He joins from Credit Suisse, where he was most recently Head of Portfolio Management, leading a team managing global multi-asset portfolios across multiple risk profiles and strategies. He will commence at the end of June.
• Lara Bourguignon, CEO, SuperConcepts, AMP’s market-leading self-managed super fund administration services business. Ms Bourguignon is an internal appointment with considerable financial services experience, having most recently led AMP’s customer experience team. She will commence in mid-April.
• Jen Thomas, Chief Operating Officer. Ms Thomas will lead the transformation of AWM’s operations. She joins AMP from RBS and has deep experience leading operations, technology and change in financial services. She will commence in early May
• Fraser Herd, Managing Director, Client Relationships. Mr Herd will build and enhance AMP’s direct advice channels. He is an experienced senior executive with international and local experience, most recently as part Credit Suisse private banking leadership team. He will commence at the end of June.
• Ant Dureau, Chief Client Officer. Mr Dureau has been promoted from his role as AMP’s Acting Director Strategic Marketing & Customer Experience. He has a strong history of driving large-scale projects with expertise in brand, acquisition, client and channel management. He will commence his new role in mid-April.
