                                    <description><![CDATA[<h3>ASIC yesterday announced the establishment of the Financial Advisers Consultative Committee, designed to improve industry engagement with its regulator, and revealed its initial membership.</h3>
<p dir="LTR">&#8216;ASIC has extensive engagement with participants in the financial advice sector as well as financial advice industry bodies and consumer organisations. We saw benefit in extending our interaction with this sector through the establishment of a committee made up of practising advisers,&#8217; said ASIC Deputy Chairman Peter Kell.</p>
<p dir="LTR">The Financial Advisers Consultative Committee (FACC) will supplement ASIC&#8217;s existing engagement with the financial advice industry by:</p>
<ul>
<li dir="LTR">contributing to our understanding  of issues in the financial advice industry, including those directly impacting on practising advisers;</li>
<li dir="LTR">improving ASIC&#8217;s  capacity to identify, assess and respond to emerging trends in the financial advice industry.</li>
</ul>
<p dir="LTR">The members of the FACC are practising financial advisers with a range of skills drawn from the following areas:</p>
<ul>
<li>investment;</li>
<li>insurance;</li>
<li>superannuation;</li>
<li>self-managed superannuation funds; and</li>
<li>digital financial advice.</li>
</ul>
<p dir="LTR">The FACC will provide ASIC with views on a broad range of issues relating to the financial advice industry.</p>
<h2 dir="LTR">FACC Members</h2>
<p dir="LTR">The initial members of the FACC are: Craig Banning, Jennifer Brown, Chris Brycki, Steven Dobson, Mark Everingham, Tony Gillett, Adam Goldstien, Cathryn Gross, Suzanne Haddan and Kevin Smith.</p>
<p>Deputy Chairman Peter Kell said, &#8216;The establishment of this committee is part of ASIC&#8217;s ongoing commitment to enhancing its engagement with its stakeholders.&#8217;</p>

<p>Launched in 2005, the Award is a highly desirable accolade for new advisers providing quality advice, who demonstrate a commitment to education and who are making a valuable contribution to their industry and to their community.</p>
<p>This year’s entrants demonstrated strong capabilities in all areas, highlighting the depth of the talent pool the advice industry is attracting.</p>
<p>AFA CEO Brad Fox says the Australian advice industry has been successful in making financial advice an attractive profession to new entrants, and in highlighting the real demand and need for good financial advice required by all Australians.</p>
<p>“This year’s entrants are particularly strong,” he says. “We are seeing the work the industry has done over the past five or so years to promote our profession now coming through in terms of professional qualifications, experience and most importantly, a desire to provide clear, transparent and trusted advice.”</p>
<p>ANZ Wealth Head of Sales, Don Sillar says, &#8220;The professionalism, education and passion of the candidates this year confirmed these Rising Stars are focused on delivering great advice to their clients.&#8221;</p>
