Mercer have appointed OneVue to be the partner going forward for the provision of member direct investing capabilities for Mercer’s clients and superannuation members.

The Mercer Direct investment service allows superannuation members to take more control over their superannuation investment strategy allowing them to invest a portion of their funds into direct assets – including direct shares, term deposits and access to a cash hub – without the complexities associated with running a self-managed superannuation fund.

The new arrangement with OneVue will allow Mercer to enhance its current direct investment offering through OneVue’s online platform and administration capabilities and will transition in the first quarter 2019.

The OneVue platform is a contemporary digital investment service supporting Advisers and Direct Investors and now superannuation members through the Mercer Direct investment offer.

The Mercer partnership also caps off strong end-of-year performance for OneVue, which saw its Platform Services FUA to $4.56 billion and was recognised in Investment Trends’ December 2017 Platform Competitive Analysis and Benchmarking Report as ranking third in full function platforms, the winner of ‘Most New Developments’ Award for the second year running and winner of ‘Product Offering’ Award.

“It’s clear superannuation members are looking for greater control over and transparency in their investments, and we’re thrilled to be able to provide that service in partnership with Mercer,” OneVue Executive General Manager Platform Services Lisa McCallum said.

“This partnership affirms OneVue’s strategy over the past year and our commitment to driving up superannuation outcomes and engagement across the board.”

Head of Superannuation Darren Stevens said Mercer was pleased to be extending their working relationship with OneVue.

“The partnership with OneVue is one of a number of initiatives that allows Mercer to provide positive member experiences to our clients and their superannuation members,” Mr Stevens said.

“We are confident that the OneVue platform and capabilities will contribute to Mercer’s continued growth and delivery of strong service outcomes to members.”

Listed financial services technology business OneVue has won the ‘Best Innovator’ award in the SMSF Adviser Category for the annual Self-Managed Super Funds Provider Awards announced in Sydney.

The awards recognise outstanding service to the self-managed super fund sector from a survey of over 850 financial advisers and accountants providing SMSF advice conducted by leading financial services research house, CoreData.

OneVue was chosen by advisers and accountants as the most innovative service provider to advisers through the strength of its proprietary platform technology, which provides a single view of all assets and liabilities and delivers market leading integrated tax reporting and administration.

CoreData principal Andrew Inwood said the ‘Innovator’ award recognised the increasing needs of advisers and accountants for a more efficient technology solution to manage SMSF portfolios, which include directly-held assets, such as property.

The research identified OneVue’s recent dashboard upgrade as a key improvement, with enhanced functionality on the OneVue platform, including ability for advisers to review all SMSF member contribution levels for a select period and by reducing the cost for investing in managed funds through the increasingly popular FUND.eXchange Lisa McCallum, EGM, Group Initiatives at OneVue, said platforms needed to continually enhance their flexibility and capability to help SMSF trustees operate reliably.

“As the SMSF industry matures platforms become more important for trustees to manage their compliance and administration needs. Over the last 12 months the momentum has really increased around our managed accounts and managed funds offering including the innovative Fund.eXchange. It is really great to get an increasing amount of
recognition for what we have systematically put in place to improve the adviser and accountant experience. We however are not complacent and will continue to launch a number of new initiatives through 2018,” said Ms McCallum.

OneVue was also recognised as the platform with the most new developments in features and functionality by researcher Investment Trends in their 2016 Platform Competitive Analysis and Benchmarking Report, which compared more than 100 investment platforms in the market.

In response to a growing demand for access to some of some of the world’s most dynamic global trading markets OneVue yesterday launched an International Equities capability for its separately managed accounts (SMA) service.

Advisers and investors can now access Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) that invest directly in companies listed across eight securities exchanges including Europe, the United States, Asia and New Zealand.

The first investment managers to have signed up for the LUMINOUS international service are Watershed Funds Management and Fat Prophets.

Watershed Funds Management is a fast growing Melbourne-based fund manager that invests through its International managed portfolio in high-quality global businesses listed on major global stock exchanges. The Watershed International managed portfolio has generated 18.7% in returns since inception in 2010. “The launch of the international separately managed account is exciting for us as clients appreciate the ability to see which international securities that they own,” said Watershed Chief Investment Officer Adrian Rowley. This development completes the picture for us in managing all asset classes in a scalable efficient manner using OneVue’s blended model capability.”
Fat Prophets through its digital footprint Super Prophets will transition its four International Model Portfolios across covering Asia, Europe, North America and Global (which invests in MSCI listed global companies such as Wells Fargo and Alphabet Inc (Google).

“International stocks provide investors with exposure to themes not always available in Australia”, said Fat Prophets CEO and founder Angus Geddes. We have now made available on Super Prophets our four international equity portfolios in partnership with OneVue.”

Other leading investment managers will soon be added to expanding the OneVue International managed portfolio service now available on the LUMINOUS platform.

“We didn’t want to just launch an international share capability, we wanted to offer professionally managed portfolios that genuinely give Australian investors easy access to investing in globally-listed companies,” said Lisa McCallum, Head of Platform Services at OneVue.

“We have had significant demand from our advisers, who say investors are looking for direct international exposure which offers them transparency. They want to see clearly which investments they hold, which is what an SMA delivers.”
OneVue will look to extend its international offering in the next few months, to include direct international investing options to investors.

The new international facility on LUMINOUS makes accessing professional fund managers easier, offering tax efficiencies and transparency of underlying investment ownership at an affordable fee.

“Adding the International managed portfolio capability also further enhances our ability to blend managed portfolio packages, which provide advisers with choices across various sector models combining ASX Listed Securities, Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), Managed funds and International Listed Securities,” said Ms McCallum.

OneVue is streamlining the delivery of its unit registry service in a move designed to boost efficiency, reduce risks and costs.

The investment platform and fund services provider today announced it has joined Calastone’s global funds transaction network.

OneVue Chief Operating Officer Lisa McCallum explained the company can now automate fund transactions previously communicated by fax.

“Traditionally, data was input by operators manually, so we’re pleased to offer automation to our clients who will benefit from improved efficiency, risk mitigation and cost.”

“By using Calastone we can offer a fully integrated service that will boost our fund managers’ wholesale
distribution capabilities.”

McCallum added OneVue is a big supporter of automation, with the company a foundation member of the ASX’s mFund Settlement Service.

Calastone Australia Managing Director Shannon Bernasconi said the Australian industry is experiencing a fundamental shift in the way business is done.

“The growth of flows has been steady over the past 18 months, with inflows in September reaching 1,000
orders per day.”

“We’re delighted to work with OneVue in the unit registry space to open automated channels to a larger sector of the platform and fund manager space.”

OneVue’s mFund Settlement Service capabilities will be leveraged by a fund services client for the first time. Allan Gray, an existing OneVue outsourced unit registry client, is expanding its distribution and making the Allan Gray Australia Equity Fund and Allan Gray Australia Opportunity Fund available via mFund.

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) launched mFund in May, to make unlisted managed funds more accessible to direct investors.

Both OneVue and Allan Gray are foundation members of mFund. OneVue chief operating officer, Lisa McCallum, said the company will act as Allan Gray’s product issuer settlement participant (PISP) and facilitate connectivity to mFund.

“One of the key benefits is OneVue’s connectivity to the ASX’s Clearing House Electronic Subregister System (CHESS) which has automated integration into our core registry system, Trust Architect.”

McCallum added that OneVue is particularly pleased to grow its relationship with Allan Gray and have the fund manager as the first to utilise its mFund capabilities.

“We’re also in discussions with a number of our other fund manager clients that are looking at this functionality and interest is growing rapidly.”

Allan Gray Australia chief operating officer, JD de Lange, said: “We see mFund as an opportunity to expand our nation-wide retail distribution capabilities.”

“We’re delighted to have a registry partner like OneVue who can help us provide another convenient channel through which investors can invest into the Allan Gray products.”
