Perpetual Private yesterday announced the appointment of Pamela Kaye as Trust Manager Native Title for Western Australia.

The new Perth-based role has been created to support Perpetual Private’s growing Native Title business, which in the past financial year has more than doubled its client numbers.

Ms Kaye’s role manages the Native Title trust relationships to ensure trusts meet the needs of current and future generations of Traditional Owner communities and are administered in line with legislation.

Ms Kaye brings to Perpetual Private a wealth of experience as a Native Title and mining projects lawyer, having negotiated a number of agreements between mining companies and Aboriginal communities during the past 20 years.

Nathan Jacobsen, General Manager Native Title Trusts and Investments, Perpetual Private said: “Working with Native Title Trusts is a complex area, so to have someone with Pamela’s experience join the team brings additional strength to our offering as one of Australia’s largest trustee and investment managers.

“In Western Australia, Native Title is a particular focus area for Perpetual Private and Pamela will play a valuable role in working closely with Traditional Owners and other Native Title stakeholders to achieve generational change in communities from native title funds.”

Prior to joining Perpetual Private Ms Kaye managed her own business in the Native Title space. Her previous roles include: General Counsel and Manager of External Affairs and Environment at Pluton Resources Limited; Solicitor (energy and resources) at DLA Piper; and Senior Legal Officer at Yamatji Land and Sea Council.
