Palisade Real Assets is pleased to announce its UK-based bioenergy platform, BioticNRG Limited, has acquired 100% ownership of Evercreech Renewable Energy Limited (“Evercreech”), a UK-based organic waste anaerobic digestion technology plant located in Shepton Mallet, Somerset with the capability of injecting 700m3/hr of gas into the National Gas grid.
The plant provides the equivalent of up to 8,000 homes with green gas, all of which is produced in the UK. The site processes local food waste and offers a green and commercially beneficial alternative for local food producers by diverting waste from landfill.
Evercreech is the latest anaerobic digestion (AD) plant acquisition of the BioticNRG platform, taking the number of owned AD plants to nine throughout the UK.
The BioticNRG sites operate as gas-to-grid sites which supply gas into the National Grid and biogenic CO2 to local consumers, and as combined heat and power (CHP) sites providing green electricity to local businesses as well as to the grid.
BioticNRG also provides full site management operational services for an additional four third-party owned AD plants, and it owns five compost sites across the Midlands and East of England, all of which are PAS:100 certified.
Ed Bastow, CEO of BioticNRG, said “We are pleased to secure Evercreech AD site to the group, it is an excellent strategic fit with our existing AD plants in the South West and allows us to significantly expand our operations and pool resources.”
Stephen Burns, Managing Director of Palisade Real Assets, said “This acquisition builds upon BioticNRG’s position as a leading owner and operator in the UK anaerobic digestion sector. Evercreech aligns with the platform’s broader expansion plans and desire to be a solution to the UK’s food waste challenge.”
BioticNRG is supported by APG Asset Management (acting on behalf of its pension fund client ABP), one of the largest global pension funds. BioticNRG provides a platform to support the socially responsible, sustainable and innovative goals of APG’s clients.
BioticNRG’s investments and activities are managed by Palisade Real Assets.
