QI Investors, an active quantitative manager with $34.5 billion under management,[1] has launched its first ETF, bringing its award-winning Australian value investment capability with an 18-year track record to a broader range of investors.
Established in 2008, RQI Investors’ Australian value strategy has more than $8 billion1 under management and has delivered top-quartile net excess returns over all time periods relative to peers.[2] The strategy’s long-term performance and recent award wins (including the Australian Fund Manager Awards 2026 – Golden Bull Award) and ratings from leading research houses[3] reinforce RQI Investors’ position as one of Australia’s most established active managers.
Building on the same investment approach, RQI Investors has today launched the RQI Australian Value Active ETF (ASX: RQAV), providing investors with access to the firm’s Australian value expertise through an ASX-listed vehicle. First Sentier Group is the ETF’s initial investor, reflecting confidence in RQI Investors’ investment capabilities and long-standing track record.[4]
Andrew Francis, Chief Executive at RQI Investors said: “RQAV is a new vehicle, but the investment strategy behind it has been delivering strong outcomes for clients for almost two decades. Since RQI was founded in 2008, we’ve built a strong track record in Australian and Global equities through a disciplined, quantitative approach to value investing, earning the trust of clients and recognition from peers and major research houses.”
“The launch of RQAV is the next step in meeting evolving client needs, making our Australian value capability available to a broader range of investors via an easily accessible ASX-listed vehicle.”
Identifying genuinely mispriced, high-quality companies across the ASX
RQAV provides investors with access to Australian companies through an actively managed quantitative strategy that looks beyond traditional valuation metrics. By combining measures of company fundamentals with factors such as quality, momentum and sentiment, the strategy seeks to identify genuinely mispriced, high-quality companies, while avoiding those that are cheap for good reason, to pursue capital and income growth over the long term.
Joanna Nash, Head of Portfolio Management at RQI Investors said: “As Australian share market returns become increasingly concentrated in a small number of stocks, particularly in sectors such as banking and resources, we continue to see attractively valued companies across the broader market”.
“We believe value investing remains a powerful long-term investment philosophy, but identifying genuine value requires looking beyond low valuations alone. RQAV combines company fundamentals with a broad range of research-driven insights to identify mispriced high-quality companies across all sectors, while filtering out companies which may be cheaper for good reason.”
“By combining active management, systematic discipline and deep expertise in value investing, we believe RQAV’s strategy offers investors a compelling way to access a diversified portfolio of Australian shares and the potential for long-term investment returns.”
