Australia’s leading independent life insurer, TAL, has announced the appointment of a new Chief Information Officer (CIO).
The appointment of David Gillespie into the senior executive role of CIO comes at a time when TAL is refocussing its business systems, processes and culture around its customers.
TAL Managing Director Jim Minto said: “Life insurance plays a vital role in our society in helping financially protect families and individuals when they most need it.
“Technology is increasingly playing a part in enabling customers to access the peace of mind that they are covered if there is a loss of income or wealth in the event of ill-health, accident or death.
“David brings deep knowledge and experience in delivering technology solutions that are focussed around customers throughout the world, and this fits with TAL’s refocussed customer strategy.”
Mr Gillespie will join TAL from global asset management company Fidelity Worldwide Investment in London, where he has been leading the technology function for the company’s Retail, Customer Service and eCommerce business.
His accountabilities included change projects and the operational components of information technology. He was responsible for defining a future state architecture which delivered the core technology platform for a customer-centric business strategy.
Mr Gillespie said: “Having most recently worked on delivering integrated systems that align around consumer needs, I am looking forward to contributing to TAL’s customer-driven business strategy.”
Mr Gillespie was previously the Head of Application Delivery and Enterprise Services for Fidelity, and has a broad background in information technology having worked for organisations such as Compaq, global technology consulting business EDS and BUPA, in various locations around the world including the UK, USA, Germany, Switzerland, India and Australia.
He will join TAL on 11 March.
