Global fund manager, Standard Life Investments has announced the launch of a Global Equity Unconstrained SICAV – a fund which mirrors the existing OEIC offering which launched in January 2007. The move widens the accessibility of Standard Life Investments’ global equity capability1 for international investors and uses the company’s successful unconstrained equity proposition2.
The launch of the SICAV is driven by demand from overseas investors who have requested access to the Global Equity Unconstrained strategy which has delivered superior returns since inception, outperforming its global benchmark over one, three and five years3. Over the last five years, the Fund has returned 86.7% compared to the Benchmark return of 64.4%4. It also ranks in the top quartile versus its global peer group over a one year period and the top decile over three and five years5.
Managed since June 2010 by Head of Global Equities, Mikhail Zverev, the Fund aims to provide long-term growth by investing in a diversified portfolio of global equity assets. Mikhail said;
“Global Equities provide a wide and diverse opportunity set for investors looking to generate high alpha in their equity allocations whilst investors in our unconstrained strategy reap the benefits of the benchmark agnostic portfolio. We believe that this sheer breadth of stock selection opportunity, our high conviction approach, and the scale of analytical resource we have available at Standard Life Investments, places us in a prime position to produce strong returns for our clients. I’m delighted that overseas investors will now also be able to benefit from this proven approach.”
Standard Life Investments’ Global Equity team, based in Edinburgh and Boston, is at the centre of an extensive, global stock research team, covering North America, Europe, Pacific Basin, the UK and Emerging Markets. This comprises c.60 highly experienced equity investors, and ensures in-depth, proprietary coverage of a very large stock universe. The team gains further insights from the in-house Corporate Bond Team, Global Real Estate Team and Strategy Team, as well as from Standard Life Investments’ strategic alliance with Japanese fund manager Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank.
