Hot business tip number 18: Make better use of technology in your business

From
Technology is key to your success.

Technology is key to your success.

In a post FOFA world, efficiency is everything. And Zurich’s own research has told us that – overwhelmingly – advisers see the use of technology, especially mobile technology, as having the most capacity to increase efficiency.

Over the course of growing a business it is not uncommon to become reliant on a variety of systems and software packages. Increasingly though it is being recognised that in order for technology to be able to drive streamlining, it is necessary to streamline the systems themselves.

2013 Adviser of the Year Jenny Brown says one of the most valuable exercises she put her business through was the consolidation of her systems. After thoroughly researching the market Jenny settled on a solution that was able to automate everything from plan preparation and ongoing client management to business reporting. The same system has customizable communication templates and allows the integration of social media activity and video content, in terms of the sending and the monitoring of engagement.

Technology is also critical to delivering an improved and more consistent customer experience, with online client access and mobile device friendliness important considerations that can drive efficiency and be a source of competitive advantage.

Other areas where technology can drive significant efficiency gains include access to daily data feeds and the online services offered by many insurers, such as renewal and application tracking.
