Aon Benfield scholarship now open for 2016

Applications for the Aon Benfield scholarship are now open for 2016. This scholarship offers the opportunity to travel to London to develop advanced skills and enhance knowledge of the international reinsurance markets.

Awarded by Aon Benfield and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), the scholarship recognises an outstanding insurance professional in the Australian and New Zealand insurance industry.

The winner will travel to London to attend the 51st annual Aon Benfield Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar from 20 to 30 June 2016. This Seminar provides valuable information about the principles and practices of arranging reinsurance on a global scale.

‘This scholarship offers insurance professionals the opportunity to explore, analyse and discuss issues that are complex but significant to our industry. It is the contribution to discourse that keeps insurance moving forward, and I look forward to seeing what this year’s submissions have to offer the industry,’ said Robert De Souza, President APAC/CEO Australia and New Zealand Aon Benfield, and Chair of the judging panel.

Prue Willsford, CEO of ANZIIF and scholarship judge, said she is looking forward to seeing the applications based on this year’s topic.

‘We anticipate the submissions for this year will inspire excellent discussion and debate. Attending the Aon Benfield Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one that we know winners benefit from greatly,’ she said

The scholarship is open to Australian and New Zealand permanent residents and citizens with at least two years’ experience working in insurance or reinsurance. All full entries are also awarded six ANZIIF Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) points for the 2016 calendar year.

To apply for the scholarship, applicants are required to write a 2,500 word essay discussing whether the insurance industry can really unlock Big Data and what this means for insurability
