The Association of Financial Advisers Inspire community (AFA Inspire) will celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) in a series of #PressForChange events around the country.

Celebrated globally on 8 March, IWD is committed to driving change for women, helping them to move closer to gender parity and encouraging the creation of more inclusive cultures.

AFA CEO Philip Kewin said the AFA Inspire #PressForChange events in support of IWD offer the financial services industry the opportunity to be part of a global community supporting women.

“The AFA Inspire IWD events not only celebrate the vast achievements of women in our own financial services community, they also represent a call to action for accelerating gender parity around the world,” he said. “We hope our events inspire our own community to push for the cultural change that is so necessary for the success of working women; a culture which genuinely recognizes, respects and values the work women do.”

The AFA Inspire #PressForChange events will kick off in Adelaide on the eve of IWD on 7 March with special guest speaker and award-winning Financial Adviser, Liz Trotter. A breakfast event will be held on the morning of 8 March in Melbourne featuring Alison Coughlan, the Founder of Make a Difference and in Perth, featuring, Western Australia’s 2016 Telstra Business Woman of the Year, Julie Adams. Sydney and Brisbane will both hold lunch events, with Dr Carla Harris, CEO & Co-Founder of Longevity App speaking at the Sydney event and Ros McLennan, General Secretary at Queensland Council of Unions speaking at the Brisbane event.

AFA Inspire National Chair, Dianne Charman encouraged all financial services industry participants to attend one of the AFA Inspire’s International Women’s Day events. “We invite both women and men, at any stage of their financial services career, to join with us to celebrate the success of women in our industry, to acknowledge the challenges that still confront working women and to #PressForChange by encouraging, supporting and contributing to the ongoing success of women, both globally and in our own industry,” she said.
