2019 ICNZ and ANZIIF Scholarship opens for submissions

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and the Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) are pleased to announce submissions are open for the 2019 ICNZ and ANZIIF Scholarship.

Young insurance professionals from New Zealand have been encouraged to apply for the scholarship, which recognises industry professionalism and leadership potential.

The scholarship offers a prize of NZ$10,000 to attend an international industry event, leadership conference or seminar program.

‘We [in partnership with ANZIIF] are thrilled to again offer a member of the New Zealand insurance industry this great career development opportunity. This scholarship not only provides the winner the opportunity to develop their understanding of the industry in a global context, but will help them to further develop their leadership skills. Representing New Zealand, the winner will grow their professional network among their international counterparts,’ says Tim Grafton, ICNZ Chief Executive.

‘The recipient of this scholarship will have the unique opportunity to learn from experts at a significant global conference,’ said Prue Willsford, ANZIIF Chief Executive Officer.

‘This scholarship provides a deserving New Zealand insurance professional with an invaluable experience to continue their development by honing their leadership skills and broadening their knowledge in the industry.’

To apply, entrants must submit a 2,500-word essay to provided questions on the 2019 topic:

“Advanced data analytics and risk based pricing advances will allow us to identify and select from ever narrowing risk pools. Does granular pricing of individual property risks challenge a basic concept of insurance?  Discuss the implications of granular pricing for insurers and their dealings with customers and any other stakeholders you think are relevant.”

To be eligible, an applicant must be:

  • a direct employee of a member of ICNZ
  • citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand
  • under the age of 35.

Applications for the ICNZ and ANZIIF Scholarship close at 5:00 pm (NZDT) on Wednesday, 16 October 2019 with the winner announced in late December.
