Applications now open for the 2019 Bright Light Award

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and TurksLegal are pleased to announce submissions are open for the 2019 Bright Light Award.

Now in its second year, the Bright Light Award is a platform for general insurance professionals to pitch an idea or opinion on a topic that relates to general insurance claims to a panel of industry leaders.

The idea could be big or small, for something or against it, specific to an area of claims or something that applies to general insurance claims as a whole.

To enter, individuals or teams (of up to 3 people) need to pitch their idea or opinion in their choice of either:

  • A short video submission (max 5 minutes), or
  • A written submission of up to 800 words, or
  • A voiceover of images or PowerPoint.

The winner of the Bright Light Award will receive a $5,000 cash prize, up to $1,500 to spend on coaching and professional development of their choice, and an exclusive opportunity to work with TurksLegal and ANZIIF to showcase their idea across the general insurance industry.

The finalists will be invited to a short discussion to explore their idea in week commencing 18 November 2019, and the winners will be announced at the ANZIIF General Insurance breakfast in Sydney on Wednesday, 4 December 2019.

‘There are so many fantastic people with many great ideas – big and small – in the General Insurance profession in Australia,’ noted Paul Angus, Partner at TurksLegal and head of the judging panel.

‘The Bright Light Award is so easy to enter and is the perfect opportunity for those ideas to be heard.  The prize and the industry exposure make it something all those working in the industry – young and not-so-young – should have a go at.

‘We are delighted to continue our collaboration with TurksLegal, and offer the Bright Light Award to a professional from the Australian Insurance Industry,’ says ANZIIF CEO, Prue Willsford. Entrants have the invaluable opportunity to have their ideas heard by senior industry leaders. I encourage all eligible individuals to apply.’

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • be a resident of, and based in, Australia
  • directly work in a capacity connected with general insurance (including workers compensation).

Applications for the Bright Light Award close at 5.00pm (AEST) on Tuesday, 1 October 2019.
