T. Rowe Price grows client focus with new portfolio specialist

Leading global investment firm T. Rowe Price has expanded its local investment team with the appointment of Sam Ruiz as its first Sydney-based Portfolio Specialist.

Ruiz will work alongside the firm’s Australian equities and global investment teams to support portfolio managers and provide technical investment expertise to its growing base of retail and institutional clients in the local market. He reports to London-based Helen Ford, Regional Head of Investment Specialist Group, EMEA & APAC.

Ruiz belongs to T. Rowe Price’s Investment Specialist Group which has over 70 team members globally. With background and experience in investment, they have a deep understanding of T. Rowe Price’s portfolios and capital markets. The group handles the flow of information between clients and portfolio managers by providing clients with insights into T. Rowe Price’s investment views and products, while at the same time allowing portfolio managers to focus on delivering solid performance for clients.

Prior to joining T. Rowe Price, Ruiz was at Macquarie Asset Management where he held a number of senior investment roles. He was most recently Head of Investment Strategy and Solutions, responsible for management of the Asian equities unit and delivering market and portfolio insights to the global client base.

He started his new role in January 2020.
